My book has been nominated by my publisher for James Tait Black Prize for fiction. Can this be added to the following book under nomination?"
Submitting a book to an award committee or contest does not qualify to be listed as an award on Goodreads. An award "nominee" refers to non-winners of the award who may have come in second or third place, etc.

Thank you, Emily. I have checked your long list of nominees for this award. They have not come in second or third place as you have mentioned earlier. Their books were nominated by their publishers too, just like my book. But you have added the following link to their books. Please explain this. https://www.goodreads.com/award/show/...

To boot, I noted that the names of these nominees do not appear on the website of The James Tait Black Awards.

Just a small remark. You keep using the wrong word here. Publishers do not nominate books for an award, unless they issue the award themselves. Instead, publishers submit books for an award to the organization issuing the award. Submission of a book does not automatically mean that the book will be nominated by the organization, that is dependent on factors such as quality.

And you don't seem to understand my point. The longlist I have provided for The James Tait Award from Goodreads are NOT nominees by the Award Committee. Yet you have listed them. I have not seen a single name on the website of James Tait. Why have you listed them as nominees? Who else would nominate their books, if not publishers?
My publisher definitely calls it nomination--not a book entry. I am saying it because I have confirmed it with them. I have specifically asked them and they said, Yes, I could mention it as a nomination. They have nominated it because of its quality. I can show you the correspondence, if you wish or you can send them an email, too.

The second and third place thing was just an example. I don't work for Goodreads and haven't looked at the list.
In this situation, it is more accurate to say that the publisher "submitted" the book for consideration. (That's what lethe is talking about in message 8 above.) In fact, "submit" is the terminology on the James Tait Black website. We believe you and don't need confirmation that the publisher submitted the book to the award committee. The publisher is using "nominate" as a synonym for "submit."
We don't list every book that has been submitted (or entered) for consideration, just the ones that the award committee chooses *from* those submissions (or entrants).

No, This was just not a submission, The book has high merit, the publisher calls it a nomination. There is a difference. And your longlist of nominees for the award on the link I have provided above must also be "submissions" then by your definition, Yet you have listed them. I have not seen their names on the Award Organisation's website. I have checked. These nominees on the Goodread's longlist have not been selected by Awards Committee. Only the winner's names are on their website which has also been listed on your longlist under winner. Check your facts.

In the case of the Goodreads award list, which I have now looked at, the nominees for the award are the books that made the committee's shortlist over the years. The winners are the books that were ultimately chosen as the winner.

Shortlists and Nominees, are different. I have also checked their shortlists, these Nominees' names do not appear here. For Instance, I didn't find the name of the first nominee from your longlist on their Award's website. I checked.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. I was just pointing out your error. I am not interested in the award link to my book. It's just a nomination, not a win.

Perhaps they don't have all 100 years worth on it, but websites change their content, and I'm sure they can be verified some other way if you are concerned. I do not have time to go through them all though, but there is always a possibility someone made a mistake. Awards are added by users and some people may have added something wrongly.
Here is the latest list:

Regardless, I've tried to explain the definition of a nominee for Goodreads. Unfortunately it is not the answer you want, but there's no technicality we can use to get around it. Should your book make their list, we can add it to the awards page.

Thank you for your clarification from Goodreads perspective. Just to clarify: Do you acknowledge Pushcart nominees to Pushcart Press? These too, are technically "submissions". Begs the question.
What is Pushcart nomination? From the internet.
Editors may nominate up to six poems, short stories, novel chapters, or essays published in 2020; submit one copy of each work by December 1. There is no entry fee. Visit the website for complete guidelines.
