I would like to do a buddy read for
The Paper Palaceor
The Sweetness of WaterLooking to start in the middle of February sometime.
Anyone interested?
I'd love to read Paper Palace but I'm not sure I can do February. Maybe at the very end...? What do you think? Also I'd like to do a buddy read for I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys
. I think I read all her books (except maybe one) with this group...
Savanes, when are you planning to read I Must Betray You? I have it to read, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to it.
Vicki Willis wrote: "Savanes, I can push back to March. Lets touch base closer to the end of Feb."Great! How about we set a tentative date so that we can open the thread and others can join us? March 4th / 18th?

March 4th? or 18th?
That'll work for me. Let's tentatively say the 18th. Since Vicki is pushing hers back she may want the earlier date, but if the 18th works better for her for Paper Palace we can move I Must Betray You to the 4th.
Vicki - let us know if one of the dates works for you.

Ok let's do March 4th : I must betray you March 18th : the paper palace. :)
I'll open the threads later today...
I didn’t even have Rabbits on my tbr, and now I feel compelled to read it because it’s too weird of a coincidence for me. This will sound so crazy, I know. But since I was 24, I see the number 444 everywhere. And, why not make it a little weirder, I even have a tattoo on my shoulder of a rabbit with a pocket watch that says 444 … so yeah, count me in on that one.
Do you have a date that would work for you Vanessa? Do you want to start later this month? Or we can push to the beginning of April?
Ha! Yes, 4/4 is great. It will go with your theme.I will set up a thread so others can join us if they want.

Kristie, can you add to the calendar so others can join if they want?

Done!
Done!
Too funny how many coincidences there are with that buddy read! Even reading it on 4/4. That's just too perfect. lol
From the blurb...
"...With a shock, you realize it is April 4th—4/4..."

LOL I didn’t realize that until after you pointed it out, but that works too! Looking forward to it :)
Hi all! Is anyone interested in a buddy read? I'd like to read The Honey Bus: A Memoir of Loss, Courage and a Girl Saved by Bees for nonfiction November. Anyone else?
Thread is here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

A "buddy read" is when one or more persons agree to read a book with you, that isn't a scheduled group book of the month (and therefore not run by one of the group moderators - we however may join in with a buddy read)
The rules: You just need one other member to read the book with you. Then it's up to you to decide when and how. There are no restrictions on dates, how long it takes to read, or on how you discuss the book (you can have a set schedule, you can discuss as you read or you can discuss at the end). It's all up to you! The only requirement is to use spoiler tags as needed so that other people don't accidentally read something before they're ready to.
What to do
Comment below which book you'd like to read and if someone(s) wants to join you, work out when you'd like to start.
Once agreed, start your own thread to discuss the book. You can do this by doing the following:
- Click on this link: Buddy Reads 2022
- Click on 'new topic' at the top right of the of the list
- Fill in the 'topic field' with Book Title and Start Date
- Type the book in 'this topic is about field' and select it from the list (This is optional, but helpful)
- Keep 'folder field' as Buddy Reads
- Fill in the 'comment field' with details about your buddy read - e.g. what the book is, book summary, reading schedule (if any), etc.
