Sorry, do I understand everything correctly? It's stated in the "General Rules" in the first post in this thread: "Reviews and buddy reads are not being counted this time."
So I can't don't count buddy reads, right? But does this rule concern only brs done in this group or outside too? If I'm misunderstanding something just let me know, my English is not perfect :(

Hi, sorry you are right. I got confused with the rules for the other challenge and it was 1 at night when I typed that so my brain wasn't working. 🤦♀️
Yes, buddy reads and reviews aren't being counted for this challenge, regardless of the group. I made the rules for all 3 of the challenges, so I didn't immediately realize. Sorry again.

Its up to you. A, an & the can also be counted for those particular letters, but there's no compulsion. :)

Thanks for clarifying! We're all humans after all :)
And sorry if I sounded rude, that wasn't my intention.

No you weren't rude at all, in fact the opposite! I'm sorry for messing up. It was my fault.

Hello everyone!
This time, instead of doing Monthly Special Challenges for every month, we are doing a Yearly Special Challenge, along with 1 monthly challenge per month, and another Yearly Challenge .
I put a lot of stuff in spoiler tags for easy navigation. If you are on the app, things will show up automatically without clicking on 'view spoiler'. I also know the rules are long, so feel free to ask any questions. :)
(click on 'view spoiler' to see everything)
Here are the rules:
HOW THE CHALLENGE WORKS?
-For every month of the year 2022, the letters of the month will be used.
-You need to read a book, an author’s name or author's surname that starts with the same letters. Authors middle names won't count.
-‘A’, ‘An’ and ‘The’ will count as well.
-There is no compulsion to finish all the letters, you can read as many as you want.
-If you finish reading all the letters for a particular month, you can always read bonus books.
For eg, January would be -
J- Jane Eyre
A- Becky Albertalli- Kate in Waiting
N- New Kid
U- Uglies
A- A Curse So Dark and Lonely
R-Realm Breaker
Y- Adrienne Young- Namesake
-Participants will be required to make a similar list for the month they are signing up for, and read the books from their list. It can be modified anytime.
The challenge will be conducted per month, and the letters will change depending on the on the particular month.
GENERAL RULES:
(view spoiler)[-This challenge has an option, you can sign up for competitive solo, non-competitive solo, competitive team and non-competitive team. You can sign up for only one of the above, to avoid confusion, but you can change your sign up per month. For eg; you can sign up for Solo Competitive in January and Team Non-Competitive in February, etc.
-Books below 100 pages don’t count.
-Books of any language & genre will count.
-Books can be read in any format and the cover must be counted according to the edition read.
-If you are reading an audiobook, then count the cover of the same edition and the page number of another edition.
-Books that you finish in the particular month you've signed up for, but started in another month will also count.
-Reviews and buddy reads are not being counted this time.
-Graphic novels, manga's, webtoons etc will also count, as long as they are 100 pages and longer.
-Re-reads will count.
-To keep it fair, the point system will differ depending on what you sign up as, because its harder to read several books when you are in a team, compared to individual. The prompts will be the same for everyone. Points and results will be tracked by moderators. (hide spoiler)]
EXPLAINING THE TYPES OF SIGN UPS FOR THE CHALLENGE:
Competitive Challenges:
(view spoiler)[Competitive will be points based. It will be like a completion, and winners will be announced when the challenge is over. (hide spoiler)]
Non-Competitive
(view spoiler)[Non-competitive is more free. There are no points, you can read whatever you want without pressure of reaching a certain goal or winning, but it still has to have the same letters as the month you sign up for. (hide spoiler)]
Team
(view spoiler)[A team challenge is where team members will be expected to read a book like a buddy read. The team members will be decided by the moderators. Team members will have to decide the books that they want to read mutually by giving suggestions. You will not be reading solo books.
Each team will be appointed a team leader, who will be responsible for the coordination of everything in their own team. Members who are mostly active in the group will be taken into consideration, but we may also choose at random.
The team leader will be expected to coordinate their team, as in: help in deciding which books to read, keep the conversations going, log the books and make this challenge as enjoyable as possible for their team etc. We mods will also be helping in this. The team leader will also be in charge of logging the books.
If a team leader fails to do the job, the group will get a -5 points.
In case you are chosen for team leader, and want to opt out of it, let us know. You can still take part in the challenge and not lead the team. A new team leader will be chosen in that case. (hide spoiler)]
Solo (Individual)- Competitive:
(view spoiler)[-Solo (Individual) competitive participants can read as many books as they want from the letters. There is no restriction on them.
-There will be points for them.
Point System for Solo Competitive-
-Each letter you complete gets you +10 points.
-If you complete all the letters of a month, you will get +20 points, in addition to the points for each letter.
-For completing the same month name with different books each time, you’ll get a bonus of +10. This means that if you finish all the letters for your month, you will get +10 bonus points.
(hide spoiler)]
Team- Competitive:
(view spoiler)[
-If you are signing up for a team, then you will need to complete all the books together and you can log them only after everyone in your team finishes reading them.
-A team leader will be appointed, just like last time.
-The goal is to compete as many prompts as possible together. All participants can suggest books for the letters, and then they can be decided.
-A team can only read one book at a time.
-You can move on to another book only after all team members have read it. In case a specific member is inactive, please let the mods know and we will tell you how you can proceed with the challenge.
Point System for Team Competitive-
-Each letter you complete gets you +20 points.
-If you complete all the letters of a month, you will get +30 points, in addition to the points for each letter.
-For completing the same month name with different books each time, you’ll get a bonus of +20. This means that if you finish all the letters for your month, you will get +20 bonus points. (hide spoiler)]
Solo (Individual)- Non-Competitive:
(view spoiler)[-Solo (Individual) participants can read as many books as they want from the list of prompts. There is no restriction on them.
-However, non-competitive will not have any points and will be more like a fun activity!
-Books will still need to be logged. (hide spoiler)]
Team- Non-Competitive:
(view spoiler)[-The same rules as the 'team' section and the 'team-competitive' section apply for the team-non-competitive.
-However, non-competitive will not have any points and will be more like a fun activity!
-Books will still need to be logged. (hide spoiler)]
