All Aboard the Polar Express! We are charged with delivering books from their storage unit at the South Pole to the shipping warehouse at the North Pole. If you've noticed longer than usual shipping times, this is why. Should we change this process? Probably. Will we? Nah.

It's going to be a long train ride, but at least we have plenty of reading material.

Each day come to this thread and comment with your number of pages read of books or your number of minutes listened of audiobooks. 1 page = 1 mile, 1 minute = 1 mile. Each day I'll add it up and see how far we've travelled, so please make a new post each time you comment rather than editing previous comments. Choo choo!

Date: Sometime after March 2020
Time: Irrelevant
Location: West of Kiribati
Distance Travelled: 5942 miles

Our train passed smoothly over the Antarctic ice. Good news: no penguins were harmed in this journey. Bad news: no penguins were seen out the windows. We then proceeded to enter the Great Pacific Tunnel, helpfully made out glass so that you can see all of the ocean that you are under. Is it practical? God No, but we've established that not a single person in charge of this operation has even a lick of sense.

Now, this is maybe not the most fascinating part of the ocean floor but we've got lots of books and are currently stopped over at the Kiribati Surface Station for refueling and replenishing the air supply. Apparently that's important or whatever.

Fun fact: Kiribati has sent 2-3 athletes to each Summer Olympics since 2004. They have yet to appear at the Winter Olympics.

Date: Unknown
Time: Unclear
Location: Wrangel Island
Distance travelled: 4991 miles

A nice day aboard the Polar Express, although some people are grumbling that 'express' is not entirely accurate. Rest assured, those people have been given large amounts of hot cocoa to quiet them down. We are on a mission, even if it is rather a slow way of getting books to people. Tonight we are bunking down on Wrangel Island, before entering the Arctic Tunnel, which will eventually bring us back up above sea level.

Fun fact: Wrangel Island is the last known place where wooly mammoths lived, up until about 4000 years ago. Neat.
