I'm looking for a book for my friend. She read the book in grade school (early to mid 2000s) and she remembers it's about a girl who doesn't have any memory of who she is. She joins up with a group of people and they discover she has some magical abilities.
Her eyes may glow either green or red?
Her name might start with an N?
There might be a character named David? who is a love interest?
Also she is sure the cover was brown and that it was illustrated.

My friend doesn't remember anything about the powers except for the glowing eyes (which also might be purple?).

She did say that she believed it took place in a fantasy world and (new info) its a book series and each book is written by a different author.
