Alissa and Lea's Informal Monthly Buddy Book Read - Others are Most Welcome to Join in!

Sounds about right. I think I'm going to feel the same way. I need to get in the right mental headspace to attempt it. Now is not the time for me.

The good quality, dark kind. Truffles, too. This brand was very good https://www.teuscherboston.com/
I missed it today, hope you had a nice snack.

I think in part it depends on your own mind set and frame of thought when you read it. One of those I can now said I’ve read since it showed up on almost every single list I was referred to for some recent challenges

I missed it today, hope you had a nice snack."
This looks amazing. I'm completely on board. We'll have to share, we like the same kind. :-)

Come and join us, Kim E. We'll make room.

That's why I want to read it too. But only when the time is right.

I am a bit of a chocolate snob in that I prefer fancy chocolate to Hershey's, but not so much of a snob where I won't eat it. I love Swiss chocolate best, but my next favorite is Finnish chocolate. I also like Belgium chocolate. My friend swears that I might have to reorganize my list after trying Ecuadorian chocolate, which I'm very willing to do. If I win the lottery, I'm going to travel the world trying chocolate and ice cream everywhere and coming up with the appropriate rankings for it. :-) :-) :-)

This describes me perfectly! But I've never tried Finnish chocolate, where do you get that? Do you have to go to Finland for it?

I've tried 2 other Cormac McCarthy books in the past, and none worked for me. I'll wait for you to read All the Pretty Horses first...

I entered the giveaway for The Spanish Love Deception and I’ll check if my library has. And I’ve been wanting to read Cormac for a long time so looks like I’m in for these.
I’ll keep an eye on the two coming up- both now added to my tbr. If I’m able to join I’ll let you know

The most popular brand of Finnish chocolate is Fazer, and the Fazer Blue milk chocolate (it's in a blue wrapper, the chocolate is normal colored) is worth trying. I've seen it at the grocery store here in California. But, my favorite of commercially available Finnish chocolate is Brunberg. I can hardly find it here and the artisanal chocolate you can get in Finland (like Petris) is worth going out of your way for, if you ever find yourself in Finland. :-)

Cormac McCarthy may not be the author for you. I've read and loved both The Road and No Country for Old Men; if you didn't like those, keep that in mind if I come back with a rave review of All the Pretty Horses. :-) Sometimes an author clicks, sometimes they don't. I keep trying to like Judy Blume, and it seems to be a lost cause.

I always start talking about food at the wrong times. I'm that type of friend.
Caramel does sound yummy, with sea salt...
Good luck with the giveaway, fingers crossed that you win or your library has the book. One of my six libraries had the book in January, but now three of them do, so it is gaining in popularity.
I'll add you to our reading list for July for sure and if you are able to join for any of the other months, we will be super excited to hear your thoughts too!

A friend of mine just finished reading this one and she is dying to discuss with me. I keep having to stop her before she spoils things for me. :-)
She thought the book was a little complicated, she usually listens to books on audio, but found it easier to read this one. I usually do audio as well, but because of her suggestion, I'm going to have the print copy available also in case I find that easier too.

We should! And have you help with the book selection too. I've really enjoyed having you join us, Denise!

I can't hear you....can you speak louder please? 🤣🤣🤣

I know...that's the problem. The other books were on my TBR, so the decision was easy. This one was not even on my radar...and have you seen my TBR lately?

No, but if your TBR is anything like mine, it may not even be possible to see all the books on your TBR at one time. Good luck with your progress! :-) :-) :-)

Thanks Denise! I just checked a hard copy of it out of the library. A friend told me that this is not a good book to do audio with, so I went old school. But hopefully the others can take advantage of that offer! :-)

The problem is that your TBR is on your multiple spreadsheets...but I guess it's even worse than mine.
No, no way to see all the books at one time 😱

The first worksheet has over 16k books on it, so it is really embarrassing. I love my spreadsheets though. And trying to decide which books to read next is quite the fun dilemma.

Embarrassing? No. Daunting!
I have my spreadsheets, multiple tabs, but I'm not happy with how to organize them. I think I need a database.
This is the first time when I regret not having a Windows machine...

Same. I am thrilled to have a fellow spreadsheet enthusiast. I have two workbooks, (one at home and one at work) with multiple spreadsheets supporting each workbook. I like book lists, what can I say? The Find function is great, but that assumes that the title of the book is the same and that's not always the case between UK and US editions. And that drasky "and" versus "&" convention. :-)

Basically, I need to merge the two documents, but they are on different versions of Excel (I have Windows at work and Apple at home). Also, I don't have good Internet access at home, which complicates some of the simplest tasks. :-)

Thankfully, internet at home is very good, no issues there.

Hooray! I'm getting excited about The Space Between Worlds. I'm a bit nervous about Homegoing but I've heard so many good things about it.
