The main character is a gay cop. He is not a detective, but he wants to be. He often “talks” to his dead uncle who gives him advice. He and his colleague, a black female cop, try to solve a mystery surrounding the disappearance of a pop icon from a yacht. He believes that by solving the crime he might get a shot at becoming a detective. There are a lot of references to current pop culture and it’s truly hilarious and very well acted. I had not finished listening to it and for some reason cannot find it in my audible app, so am really hoping to find the title.

Hi Kris, I spent a good portion of the day day scouring Audible Originals (1000+ titles) and I finally found it! It is called: “Sorry Charlie Miller.” It is actually considered a podcast, not a book, although it is episodic with chapters which is why I thought it was a book.
