SOLVED. Adult Fantasy, Short Story collection, specifically looking for a retelling of the minotaur myth centered around Ariadne (not the new book). Lots of focus on her dancing her way around the labyrinth. Read within the last 3 months. [s]

I picked this up and read it off-hand during a slow day at work maybe 2-3 months ago. This is the only story I can remember in it. It's most likely 3rd person focused on Ariadne, telling the story of how Minos got cursed and created the Minotaur, dug the labyrinth, and locked it inside. Ariadne keeps visiting the mound, tries to remove the plate over the entrance, and there's a lot of focus on her dancing her way around and not getting lost, because even walking on the ground above it will make you disappear inside. Specifically a priest (I think?) goes missing and then another follows her perfectly and doesn't get lost. Eventually the Minotaur gets freed I think but it's honestly really blurry. There's also two really annoying maids that help Ariadne and her mom out in the tower they're shoved in by Minos.

'Buried Deep' by Naomi Novik tells the minotaur story from Ariadne's perspective, but I haven't read it so not sure if it matches the details you remember. It appears in The Mythic Dream, edited by Dominik Parisien and Navah Wolfe.

If it's not that, can you remember anything about the collection as a whole, e.g. was it a new release or an older title? One author or multiple? Were they all myth retellings? etc.

Yes! That's it! The problem was that I only read like 2-3 stories in it and not the whole thing so I remembered nothing. The Thetis story when skimming the contents was what confirmed it. Totally forgot that was in the same collection. Thank you!
