LOL! Understand that!

But everything you read doesn't have to be for this challenge... 😉

Yes, ghosts will work.

MountainKat | 31770 comments I've caught up on the SH thread. There are several corrections requested.

Reminders!!

Reposts are required when I ask for corrections!! I do not go backwards when checking the threads, SH and team, I only look at new posts.

When looking at the initial publication date, for this or any task, if there is a date listed at the top of the editions page - USE IT! That is the date I am looking for. I only want a different date if there is not date listed on the top of the editions page, then I will want you to use the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format.

Please make sure your reposts are clearly labeled as reposts/corrections! And please check for simple copy & paste errors, things often get missed. (I do that all the time!!) Also, if your posts say they are reposts and aren't, I spend time looking for the original post. Please help save me time!

That's fine. Had to read it for another challenge and thought I would check. Thanks. BTW, the audio is great with Sebastian York!

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments Kat this is in precis:
Fair warning: Jude and Derek's story contains frequent detailed scenes of man parts touching, little old ladies being inappropriate, and two lonely hearts coming together in perfect harmony.
Would work for bitch it is MPG MM romance Jumping Jude?

message 114: by Trio (last edited Dec 20, 2021 05:10PM) (new)

Trio | 2794 comments And I'm confused about the qualifications for "Bitch".

I've been scrolling through a bunch of the team threads, and it looks like folks are claiming books simply bc there are female characters in the precis...

It's been a few rounds since I've done this challenge, but I remember we needed a little more justification than that lol.

Kat, you say: "a female character important enough to the story to be mentioned in the precis."

Is that truly enough ? Thanks :)

No, that is only ok if there is no 'heroine' in the book and it is MPG MM Romance (combined and not separated) with a female character important enough to the story to be mentioned in the precis.

For books with a heroine, I need something to indicate it is a strong female leading character as described in the qualifications for the task.

message 124: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31770 comments Midnight is weird, because some think of it as the start of the day and some as the end. I am using it as the end of the day. So the end of Wednesday night US EST. Just under 34 hours from now.

MountainKat | 31770 comments Wende wrote: "For spring is it the first kindle book published date or the first date the book was published. There are some books published way before kindled. Do I count the first date or the date decades later."

From the task qualifications:

To qualify, the selected book needs to be initially published in a spring month - March, April, May or June of any year. Make sure you use the initial publication date! If there is a date at the top of the editions page - USE IT! Otherwise, I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification.

It is the first publication date for this task. Use the date at the top of the editions page if there is one. Otherwise it would be the date from the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format.

MountainKat | 31770 comments Date 2 - A - Tasks: Breakdown of the qualifications for possible tasks for Date 2.

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.

Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!

You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.

A is for Acorn - Read a book with a distinct tree on cover.

To qualify for this task, the book's cover needs to show a distinct tree. I need to be able to distinguish at least one tree on the cover - a green blur in the distance is not going to work. To work, the cover needs to clearly and obviously show at least one tree. You can use any edition's cover to qualify for this task. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion post.

A is for Adjective - Read a book with an adjective in title.

To qualify, the selected book's title needs to contain an adjective, a word that describes a noun or a pronoun. Titles such as Red Dirt Heart, The House in the Cerulean Sea, My Last Duchess, The Duke's Perfect Wife, The Mighty Storm and Dylan the Bad Boy Reindeer & His Virtuous Mate would all work.

A is for Alliterate - Read a book with alliteration in title or author’s names.

Books selected for this task need to have alliteration in either the title or the author's name. There can be a small word such as in or and between the alliterated words in the title. So books such as Spook Squad or Divided in Death would work. And authors like Lucy Lennox, Eli Easton and Candi Kay would also work.

A is for ??? - ???

To be revealed when the date begins.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments Ok this is questionable. My Fake Billionaire by Ana Ashley ok for acorn? and since there are 2 authors Ana Ashley and Rhys Everly for alliteration one or both authors alliteration required?

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments Just checking but My Regelence Rake would work for alliteration, right?

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments Also for adjective we should be careful of context there are words that are both nouns and adjectives. Like Midnight. in Midnight Ash it is an adjective and Masters of Midnight: Erotic Tales of the Vampire it is a noun.

No, that just shows palm frond, not a tree.

Yes, the alliteration only need to work for one author if the book is written by two authors.

I've been confused about what day it is for over a week! But, I hope things are settling down - ok, let's get real - maybe next week things will settle down... 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Yes, if the two authors write under a pseudonym that alliterates it would work.

Truitt_T | 805 comments MKat - I've got two questions for you. At least I think it's just two....

First:
For alliteration, are you accepting both same first letter and same first sound?

An example you gave was Candi Kay, so first sound is ok.

So:

Candy Cane - ok
Candy Kane - ok
Cindy Cane - ? One definition of alliteration I've seen says letter or sound. What's your take on it?

Second:
Would Candy McCane work? or Diana von Diamond? or Diana de Havilland?

Sorry. I have an obsessive need to know....

I'm trying out new hobbies in advance of the new year. These two are more than likely beyond my skill set as well. Maybe tomorrow I'll try on "sweet and kind". More than likely those will epically fail the minute I start with wrapping gifts or someone tries to interact with me prior to coffee. 😂😂😂😂

I have to admit I was wondering about alliteration when there is a word in between. Eg Sink or Swim? Mystery at the Masquerade?

I will allow letter and sound, though sound is what I always think of personally.

Authors' names can not have a something between - so your examples there would not work.
