LOL I've been having similar problems - you find a category for one book, but that pushes another book out.

Some ideas: The Other Black Girl is set in NYC, which has many sister cities that have many books set in them (eg: London), it's being adapted into a series by Hulu (no release date though on that), it also involves a secret, and one character is sort of leading a double life (this one is a bit of a reach).

I haven't read 'The Man Who Died Twice' but it seems like the group is very close. Maybe it could fit into the Found Family prompt?

Beth | 39 comments Jaimé wrote" Which prompt would Around the World in 80 Books fit in?"

This would fit the prompt A book whose title begins with the last letter of your previous read. You could use the S in Around the World in 80 Books.

Sarah (sezziy) | 901 comments Ashleigh wrote: "Does anyone know where I Am Number Four might fit? :D"

About a secret is the best fit. Kinda works for found family but the sequels would work better if you plan on continuing on

message 306: by Beth (new)

Beth | 39 comments Marja wrote, "I'm planning to read Utopia by Ahmed Khaled Towfik for another reading challenge and I would like to use it for Popsugar challenge as well..."

The description sounds like social horror to me. Or a misleading title since it's really a dystopia.

message 307: by Despina (new)

Despina (tosodoula) | 24 comments I recently got An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I vaguely remember thinking that it would be great for a prompt or two, but I can't think which ones it fits best right now. Any suggestions?

I also thought that social horror is pobably more fitting but wanted to hear what others think. I didn't even think about the misleading title option, but you've got a point. Thanks!

I am reading it now. Could also be used for a double life, as well as nonpatriachal society.

Just finished. It could also be used as a book about a secret, or a found family and if Jodi Picoult or Stephanie Garner or Sara Holland are your favourite author my copy has quotes by each of them on the cover.

message 313: by Ron (new)

Ron | 2708 comments Would this work, Star Wars: Original Trilogy , for the one with a "protagonist with a mobility aid?"

Maybe it depends on the interpretation of it because depending on a point of view, Vader can be seen as a protagonist as well as needing help such as his mechanical hand in the prequels, and then more obvious his suit.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes sort of has a ban or musician in it. Someone else said they were using it for the man-made disaster because of all the genetic mutations. It could also be about found family.

Kelsey Maidment | 2 comments Hi all, have been working on this challenge and just found this group! I was wondering if State of Terror by Hilary Clinton and Louise Penney would fall under social horror?

message 317: by Melody (new)

Melody | 9 comments Vania wrote: "where does “From Blood and Ash” of Jennifer L Armentrout fit?"

I don't want to spoil it for you if you haven't read it yet, but there are a couple of pretty big secrets that are a huge part of the plot, so a book about a secret would work. It's also a #BookTok recommendation.

message 318: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 125 comments Social horror may be a bit of a stretch for State of Terror. But it does have multiple POVs and happens in winter, if that is your favorite season.

Well the witches prompt works, you could stretch the after life because of the vampires. It's set at the start of the school year so it could be favourite season of Autumn. Could be double life because Hope is hiding the supernatural world from her human friend so you could try double life. Set in Juno Alaska so is there a sister city?

Heather L (wordtrix) | 780 comments Samriddha wrote: "Will Hickory Dickory Dock be applicable for the onomatopoeia title?"

Sorry, but no. Onomatopoeia is the formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named (example: cuckoo, sizzle. Pop, tick-tock).

message 329: by Abbi (new)

Abbi (abbirreads) | 2 comments I just finished "You" by Caroline Kepnes and I'm struggling to fit it into the reading challenge. I was thinking social horror or maybe a double life? thoughts?

message 330: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 125 comments Abi, I just saw the show (couldn’t make it through the book) but I think you could do secret (Joe is hiding that he’s a stalker that is killing people). Also, not sure if this is in the book, but I think both Joe and Beck have a “found family”. Joe has Mr. Mooney and Beck with her brown friends. Double life may be a bit of a stretch

Dea (maidmirawyn) | 202 comments I write questions for our school district’s reading quiz bowl, and I’ve received my book assignments for this year (high school).

In the Wild Light by Jeff Zentner
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni

Any help would be appreciated!

Update: I see someone else is reading Project Hail Mary for the "two languages" prompt, so I'll slot it in there. Still not sure about the other two.

-Found family
-A book about a secret
-A book you can read in one sitting
-A book featuring a man-made disaster
-A book with two points of view
-And there's one more that you'll discover after you read it.

It is part of a duology also, so if you want to read the second one, you could use it for that. That's what I'm thinking of doing.

Finished Klara and the Sun and decided it definitely fits 31 A book featuring a man-made disaster.

Reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt soon since I finally got it from library. Any ideas if it would fit found family or some other prompt? It would probably fit my favourite past prompt but I'd like to save that for later if possible..

I've read that one, and it is excellent! (2020 challenge—a woman in STEM.)

I recommend #25, a book about a secret. It is FULL of secrets—the way her husband treats her; what her husband is ACTUALLY involved in; what Hedy learns from her socialite life; her interest in science and engineering.

The Only Woman in the Room

As a fan of twenty-something years, I approve! So many options…

A book about a secret
A book about or set in a nonpatriarchal society (Tar Valon; the Age of Legends in general)
A book about a found family (The Emond's Field five)
A #booktok recommendation
A book set during a holiday (it starts during Winternight and Bel Tine)
A book that features two languages (common and the Old Tongue)
A book about someone leading a double life (Moraine; The Dragon Reborn; a certain Darkfriend)
A previous prompt (maps, and so many other options)

And if you want to stretch it…
A book becoming a TV series or movie in 2022 (season 2)
A book featuring a man-made disaster (The Breaking)
A book featuring a party (Winternight gathering in Emond's Field)

The Eye of the World

The Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
The Return of the King

A few options…

A book that features two languages (All have some Elvish)
A book about someone leading a double life (Aragorn; Saruman in #1)
A book about a secret
A #booktok recommendation
A book about a found family

And they could fit any number of past prompts.

For Fellowship…
A book featuring a party (Bilbo's birthday party, or the party of nine people)

The Silmarillion
The Children of Húrin
Unfinished Tales of Númenor and Middle-Earth

A book that features two languages (Elvish)
A book about a secret
A book becoming a TV series or movie in 2022

The Picture of Dorian Gray

This one practically screams "a book about a secret" or "a book about someone leading a double life."

I'm planning on using Book of Lost Friends for "misleading title" and When the Stars Go Dark can be "reflected image" (I loved this one!). Enjoy!
