Sue wrote: "There were a few of us who had talked about The Son for February. Is anyone still interested?"Hi Sue. I am new to this group, so not sure how it works. But I would be interested in reading that book in February.
Cynda and I am planning to read The Lais of Marie de France early in the year if you are interested to join us, Fed.

Yes, I am; thank you, Carolien! Let me know once you have a plan and/or an open thread, and I'll join you (otherwise I'll go for February). I'm free between 15Jan-31Mar.
[I wonder if one single thread for all this early French literature could work, with participants reading this or that text and contributing to the big picture. Michaela, Darya, Carolien, Cynda – what do you think? Otherwise, there'll be three smaller buddy reads.]

The Mirror of Simple Souls by Marguerite Porete, the French-speaking mystic burnt at the stake for heresy in Paris in 1310.
Fed - Sounds like a good idea to make a thread for early French literature, probably with spoiler tags, as not everyone will be able to read everything. Thanks for your interests Fed, Carolien, Darya and Cynda. I´d like to read the letters too. :) Will see if I can get the others too.
Thanks Darren for wanting to join into Oroonoko and Carol, both having been nominated several times but never won. :) Any special time to read them? And other members interested too?
great Loraine and Janelle! It's very flexible, Loraine. You just read at your pace and post your comments as you want. I often don't start buddy reads until the 2nd part of the month and do group reads in the first half but if people start posting them I try to get going on it . Once Sara puts up the thread, it's good to make a post to say you're participating because that way you get notifications and can tell if others have started. The thread might not go up for a bit.
Michaela wrote: "Before you all plan your challenges for next year, I had a look over the nominations (not always mine, but books I´d like to read) of the last two years, so if anyone would like to join me in one o..."Hi , Michaela ! I am interested in reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee if it can possibly be scheduled after December ?
I am excited to see so many interested in buddy reads for the coming year. It is a great way to organize a group read for books that somehow never garner enough votes to win the group polls.
When you have decided on a month for your read and are sure you have participants, please indicate the specific book and month to me and I will add it to the schedule and create your thread. Happy reading to all!

And Carol December 2023? or 2022, Fed? I´m rather busy this December.

If you will put it off for a few months (or 3 or 4) I can join you.
I don't mind leaving Carol til 2023 as I just realised it would be useful in a challenge list I'm putting together!

Welcome , Paula ! Nice to have you joining in too !
Two requests a few of us have discussed reading together next year. If you're interested, please chime in with the best month to read! At this point, I'm open. :-)Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
and
Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont by Elizabeth Taylor
I will mostly be away in 2023 to catch up on other reading, yet I want to very much read either or both those books. Parable of the Sower and Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont.
My reading schedule is open.

I'm pretty open for Parable. I haven't committed to any reads yet. Whatever time frame works for others will work for me.
I will be reading A Theory of Semiotics by Umberto Eco. I will be starting it in the next couple of days and will read on for a month or two or however long it takes to familiarize myself with some of the concepts. I hope others will join me in reading this book. We can help each other read this book so that we each can better understand and enjoy Umberto Eco's novels and essays.
I also want to read Parable and Mrs Palfrey. What about jumping in with Parable in January and Mrs Palfrey in February? Just suggestions as my schedule is open as well. We can pretty much do anything.
I'd like to read Parable if we could do it March?Parable and Mrs Palfrey would both qualify for New School Second Place of Worse if anybody needs ideas for the challenge.
I’m also interested in Mrs. Palfrey and Parable! I like Mrs.Palfrey for January and Parable for February or March. Either is OK with me :)
Sounds like March for Parable is going to be good with Carolien and everyone else so far. I'm happy to jump in with Mrs. Palfrey in Jan or wait to Feb. What do others think?
Cynda wrote: "Yes Caroline thank you. When will be convenient?"January if that will work for you? Fed is also in and available if I remember correctly.
Okay January then. . . .If you are GR friends with Fed, will you message him? In either case, perhaps he will notice our buddy read thread or perhaps we will see him somewhere on GR.I will request buddy read thread now.
Hello Mods. May Carolien and I have a thread for a buddy read of The Lais of Marie de France by Marie de France. We will read throughout Jan 2023. Anyone and Everyone is welcome to join in

Just choose a month when you know the other books you´re planning to read. :)

Sounds good! :)
Question, as I never organised a buddy read in this group: How many people are the minimum to request a buddy read?

Greg, is there still a plan for The Conference of the Birds as a buddy read in February? I kind of lost track of that one.

That's great, Darya, thanks! Let's see if Michaela wants to add that as well, otherwise I'm happy to read it just the two of us. I'll read it in Italian+Latin.
