SOLVED. YA/ Older Children book about an Ice Pick Killer.

I read this book around 2004. It was in my church library so it might have Christian themes or be by a Christian author. It was about a kid who was trying to run away from an ice truck. I think there was some family curse of dying from ice related incidents before hand. I seem to remember the person in the truck had a ice pick. I think it was also around/before a specific birthday, like if he made it to his 13th birthday alive he would be safe. I think the book might have been part of a series.
