Skylar | 10 comments Hi! I go by the pen name of Skylar Hayes and am looking for a free developmental editor for the first book in my duology series. It's called The Boy in the Glass House and the Girl Behind the Stone Walls, it's a YA coming-of-age dark contemporary, and is 40,000 words. I can't afford an editor, but if anyone's interested in my book, I could give an honest testimony of their work if there are any editors here that need to build their client list and credentials.

S. Daisy | 8 comments Hello. If you message me via Goodreads, I would be happy to work something out with you. I am unable to give away my work completely for free, but I may be willing to work out some kind of trade or something if that works for you. I am a skilled comprehensive editor who has edited dozens of books, but I have an opening in December and if you tell me more about your book and we can work out a deal, I'd be able to fit you in. :-)
Regards,
Daisy

That would be nice. Also, does it have any graphic love scenes or an excessive amount of foul language?

Skylar | 10 comments No, there's no romance or bad words.
Here's the synopsis:

Caspian Fox is an overachiever, always thinking of new ways to get his parents to notice him, but the only way he could accomplish this is if he holds a liquor bottle or pack of cigarettes in his hands whenever he speaks to them. They’re either at their jobs or bars more than half the time, leaving him to care for his younger sisters, not getting the chance to have fun and be a kid like everyone else in town.

Aurelia Camden is a quiet and artistic girl who rather paints or draws how she feels then say it out loud and let someone in. Having lost her mother at an early age and never seeing her father due to his long and frequent business trips, she wonders why she has to live in a place where she has to take care of herself, and not with her grandpa or aunt and uncle, like she wishes.

When Caspian and Aurelia meet, it doesn’t take long for them to become best friends, but instead of being honest and confiding in each other about their family secrets, they continue to bury them inside. Making Aurelia’s stone wall around her even higher, and Caspian get cut even deeper by the glass house he’s trapped in. All both kids want is to be accepted and be a part of a loving family, but their given ones stand in their way and their friendship gets damaged in the process.

Nevvie Gane | 10 comments Hello, if you still need free developmental editing, please let me know.

I’m a freelance copyeditor and proofreader and decided I want to expand my services. As I am looking to get some experience with developmental editing, I'll be happy to work for free.

I'm fully booked in December, but I have an opening in January, if you are interested.

Best,
Nevvie
