We only eat lunch when we’re at preschool. When we are in primary school, students go home for lunch and sleep then went to school again.

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 389 comments I would force the school system to do more to take action against bullying. I would want them to believe victims more and do more to punish bullies. Maybe in-school suspension where the bullies have to discuss with a therapist about what they did or the bullies have to watch anti-bullying videos in detention

Living in Vietnam is different. I think some or most of the international schools have lunch. That’s my guess anyway.

I would either
1: get rid of AP classes
2: hire teachers qualified to teach AP classes

AND/OR

I'd have the school system treat those with disabilities better, particularly those of us who have invisible disabilities who, might I add, make up the majority of the disabled community in the United States.

Ayathma | 607 comments Honestly the dressing system.
My school has a uniform and we have to wear it also we have to make our hair pigtails or two braids, so I want to make the freedom to wear any outfit and to make the hair any style.
And more lunchtime
we only have 15 minutes for lunchtime lol!

If I could change something about the school system, it wouldn't be the system in general, it would be how people treat teachers. People abuse them and tell them they're not doing something right, not teaching their kids something the parents should've taught their kids. Both my parents are teachers, so I know all about the disrespect and mistreatment teachers experience. It really sucks.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Aw! That sounds rough. And yeah, another thing I would like to change about school is how some students treat substitutes for teachers. Some students don’t really give them a chance. Substituting for a class seems hard.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

I would want every teacher to be like my English teacher; she's the one teacher we can and have actually talked to about our problems, she is patient (to an extent) with us and she Can have a laugh and is just really lovely. All teachers should be like that

I'd change the stigma behind learning and school. It shouldn't be something too loath, not saying everyone needs to love it but generally people hate school because it's forced and idle and in the higher grades, you get severely overworked. This issue can be easily fixed too. I think everyone has that one subject they hate, and it is usually followed with by a poor teacher, we don't understand what we're supposed to learn, get annoyed, and end up disliking that class. We also have had an experience with a good teacher and even if that subject maybe wasn't our favorite, it was still an enjoyable class.

I took Biology a few years ago and in the beginning I really didn't want to take it, but my bio teacher was very passionate about it and that came across in the way he taught. By the end of the year, me and my classmates (who were equally uninterested) grew to love it and everyone agreed it was the best class they took that year.

Melanie (happysadmel) I wish that peoples mental health was more important in school.
I also wish they had made learning more exciting and engaging. Also there should be more resources for people if they are struggling in class.( I had undiagnosed adhd and I dropped out of school bc my mental health was bad. I though there was something wrong with me because I couldn't keep up with everyone and I would have panic attacks daily so I would hardly go to school)

Yeah, I've been experiencing a lot of bullying lately, but the school hasn't really been doing anything about it.

✧˚*̥ Kamryn *̥˚✧ | 60 comments Changing the dress code >:(
A lot of schools are fine and just have the “No spaghetti straps or short skirts for girls” or like the shorts/skirts had to be at least the tip of your fingers when you rest them at your sides. But the schools I’ve been to only allow like the khaki shorts/pants, no skirts, only shirts have to be button-ups or polos, and all of the above could only be a few different colors. Seriously, kids need the freedom to express who they are, and clothing is one of the best ways to do so. And besides, the more rules put in place, the more kids want to BREAK them.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

YES! My school does not allow spaghetti straps and it’s frustrating >:/
But no one really follows the dress code and no one really enforces it at my school soooo

-Personally

Okay so I’m going to an international school and at lunch, the cafeteria lady will already have these trays with food in front of them, and we’re supposed the take the tray and a another tray for our fruits and stuff that we get to choose. Tbh, this is my first year at the school, and the school year hasn’t started, so I don’t know much, but I think the lunch time is around 30 minutes, I think. The only thing I would like to change though is that we get to eat whatever we wanted. I’m just afraid that there will be too much food and that I can’t eat it all. Also, I’m a bit overweight so I’m trying to slim down a down a bit and this is bad timing.

-Generally

For generally, I think schools should have more activities. Like, to keep the place engaged and actually make it fun. I learned that from mine and I want every school to be like that. At my old school, it’s literally a pain to go to school, and the only way I could survive is recess. I even nearly fell asleep once during math class hehe. This is currently my opinion, and I know that the school system has a lot of flaws to be fixed, but this is what I think now. It might change in the future tho.

kelsie (taylor's version) less strictness on uniform because then we don't have any individuality and sometimes it's just ridiculous the rules they put in place to make sure everyone's uniform is *perfect*

Katherine (catthehuman) | 8 comments I would make sure "asking for help" in school wasn't seen as a bad thing. Academic help, emotional help, social help. One of my friends was writing a bit of depressing poetry, my other friend read it and told the counselor, and now they are not talking. I wish more people would see it for what it is, not a punishment.
