YA Novel - Modern-ish setting for 2012-2014. Witchcraft, girl comes from criminal family but hasn't developed her powers yet. Other main character is a boy who develops powers but he lives in a family that is like "pure" and says "no" to witchcraft. Witchcraft "dampeners" or something in the story too!

1. I think the two characters mentioned in the header need to work together for something, but I just can't remember what. The girl has an uncle that's like a mob boss and he believes she's going to get her powers, but she's iffy on it.

2. Read the book between the years 2012-2014, but I don't remember if it was recent for that time or not.
