Other details I remember was that the main character was one of the weaker magical kids, but had a unique ability like he acted like a gate between two worlds?

There were 3 books in the series.

The last book heavily involved like a gate and there was cover art of like a big fight under a arch or something.

The title was something like Magicksters, but a google search doesn't help with that title unless I can find the exact title with author and all.
