It was about a little fairy girl (I think she may have had red hair and a name that started with F but that I'm not sure) who was on a journey, possibly to save her home. She could only walk on earth (like the forest floor) and could not walk on roads because she had to stay in contact with nature at all times. She made friends with some animals.
I remember the cover was brown & it had one of those half dust jackets that doesn't cover the whole book, which was purple and had a little illustration of the main character on the cover.
