Cheryl (cherylllr) | 67 comments I keep forgetting that you use Metro and therefore are a 'neighbor' to me. :) My son is now working at Belle Isle so I let him schlepp my books. I'm doing summer reading because it's on Beanstack online, but that's the only program that works for me.

I guess they want to keep people ignorant. They don't want smart people because then they would see thru their agendas. Fight them with everything you can. Vote these people out.

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 67 comments MORE NW Wisconsin consortium does a summer 'passport' program to encourage us to visit all the different libraries in the area. This year was our first; we visited 22 different ones and got see so many different ways they serve communities. I checked out lots of jigsaw puzzles and several games as well as too many books!

But nothing tops my mom's library in the Pima County (Tucson) consortium for sheer service. She is currently monitoring her blood pressure with an 8 week loan of a (electric) device!

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 67 comments Sorry, I don't know how to post photos.

I needed a sweatshirt and wanted to support a good cause. ACLU and others wanted $50 or more. I found Plot Threads via ALA and got two for $32 each. And I love them!

Bargain hunting is an important part of bookery when a new hardcover goes for upwards of 30 smackers!

L J | 245 comments Need a laugh?
Go to YouTube and search Times Librarians Surprised Everyone With Their Sense Of Humor.

Several channels have posts of various pictures. Of course there's duplication but still fun.

message 126: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 67 comments My son is a librarian (in otj training) and he says the premise is wrong... he doesn't think that others think that librarians have a sense of humor.

But I loved the top result for that search and will watch the others when I can. Even though I disagree with some of the captions (no, it's not only in Arkansas that you can borrow fishing equipment... at least WI and Missouri, too, and I bet others).

Fishing equipment, museum and zoo passes, binoculars, telescopes, musical instruments and more are available from various libraries.

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 67 comments That is true. I've personally seen all of those except musical instruments at various libraries in my family members' communities.
