John Warner (jwarner6comcastnet) | 97 comments Det. Andrew Yancy, recently suspended from the Key West Police Department, after intimately attacking his girlfriend's husband with a Dustbuster, and transferred to "roach patrol" as a health insperctor, badly wants his policeman's badge back. However, the chief of police, who is seeking a more pretigious polical position, is reluctant to do so as long as Yancy continues to be a "contraversial figure", with the press.

When a dismembered arm is fished from the gulf, the limb appears to be the remains of a shark attack. Upon further inspection, it is discovered that the arm was removed with a surgical saw. Once identified, the stepdaughter of the widow accuses her stepmother of murder. Yancy believes that if he solves this murder, he is sure to get his old job back.

I listened to this audiobook, the initial book in a two book series, after first listening to the second. I found the second book uproariously funny and had high hopes for the first. The first had its occasional humorous moments but generally it paled in comparision. Additionally, I fouund the narrator voice for the protagonist unbelieveable. I couldn't connect with a Floridian named Yancy with a Bronx accent. It also didn't help that the narrator rarely changed his voice between male and female characters. I would recommend that the reader forego this book and go directly the second one.
