I have reread the book a couple times and on my first ever read I thought that Catching Fire was just a sequel because people wanted a sequel and Suzanne Collins just wrote it to please her fans??? Am I making this understandable?? Anyways I reread the book about a few months later than my first read because I initially didn't like it, but now I like the 2nd book about as much as the first and think its a great book overall. That is why I have reread it so many times that I've lost track of how many. As much as I think it's a great book I still can't shake that initial thought of my first ever read of Catching Fire, and I am kind of confused to be honest.
What do you guys think? Did Suzanne Collins just write a sequel because people wanted one? Did she plan for a second book to be launched? A third??
And most importantly, which book is better? The first book (the Hunger Games) or the second book (Catching Fire)??

Personally I believe that the first book is miles better than the first.
I definitely believe that Suzanne did plan on writing the second one but not quite sure.

Personally I believe that the second book is a little better if not the same as the first
I love both equally, they're like my children. But catching fire had more twists to it. And I like that Catching Fire revealed more about Katniss's relationships with her surrounding characters. Plus Joanna is amazing.
ooo hard question because the first book is iconic its so good but once. your sucked in I loooove the second book, the quarter quell, the girl boss energy, the back and forth with Peeta, FINNICK, so I think I like catching fire more haha
Honestly gotta go with catching fire, I also love book #3 tho, so i think i like #3 best of all tho ngl
I loved the first one! Though I didn't enjoy the last one at all, it was hard to follow and just not as good.
I believe the second book is better as it took all the good parts from the first and added more. I understand how people feel towards the first, it may feel more nostalgic. After reading the first book I thought nothing would get better until I read the second.
I loved the first book and then I read the second one! It was a whole new level. Which kind of made me not love the third book actually. Definitely 2, 1, 3 for me.
I personally thought the first half of Catching Fire was kind of boring, so I think the first book was better
Definitely first. I love the fear when she's chosen for the first time and has to go through all the "trials" for the first time and how everything is so brand new.
I personally think the first book is better. I feel that you get to know the characters more and I also think the plot is better.
