Sara Lara | 6 comments I think it's safe to say that the majority of us don’t miss high school. But if I’m being honest, a part of me misses hearing about the drama happening around school. I mean what’s highschool without a little bit of drama? This is exactly what this book touched on plus the underwhelming parties and dating scene. As I was reading “500 words or less” I felt like I was in high school again hearing about the drama happening around school but not in an overwhelming way. The book revolves around how Nic is treated after she cheated on Ben and how she’s coping with how her peers are reacting to her cheating. She really broke his heart unfortunately. To the point where he transferred schools, left sports teams, and left student government. But what doesn’t surprise me is that she was treated completely different than Jordan was. In return Nic tries to get everyone to like her by doing favors for other students such as writing essays and college application essays. Since Nic is passionate about writing, this was an easy way for her to try to make amends. Throughout the book, the author bounces back from past and present, specifically times when Nic was with Ben. It actually made me a bit sad reading those parts because you could feel how much she regretted cheating and how much she misses him. Unfortunately the tragedy unveiled towards the end of the book doesn’t help.
