Do you ever go to conventions? Which ones?

I'm wondering if any of you ever go to SFF/Romance/etc. conventions (not ComicCon, which is a bit too huge), and for what reasons? Do you meet authors? Find new writers? If you have some good ones to suggest, can you share?

Some of my favorites: Arisia (Boston), WisCon (Wisconsin), World Fantasy (all over)

I've never been but would love to do so. I've come close to going several times but they are expensive.

I have been to a Charlaine Harris book signing. That was cool. She was very funny, answered questions, and signed everyone's books.

I go to conventions as often as I can. I write superhero romance, so I have a lot more options. I attend CoastCon, MidSouth Con, A Weekend With The Authors, Mephit Furmeet, and PennedCon. I go to more, but these are the major events I attend.
