question
Do you think Joe is on the same par as Beck?

Okay so hear me out.
Joe is a creepy stalker, yes, but Beck is a compulsive liar, an attention whore, and she literally said she noticed Joe was stalking her in the end at her book reading. So, I think if she noticed it then, she should have stayed away. I think she was asking for trouble by playing him and sleeping with a married man. I really don't like her character, if you can't tell. I think she got what was coming to her. I mean there is also so much foreshadowing with that crazy friend of hers thinking she has a stalker when BECK KNEW SHE WAS BEING STALKED BY JOE WTF. I just don't get what was going through her mind.

I don't think Beck knew the extent. She knew he was at her reading early in the book, and she liked that a guy she met at a book store figured out she had a reading and showed up. Everything he did after, she was not aware of. She was genuinely shocked and appalled by his Beck box and the Book of Beck. She didn't know he had her phone or was reading her emails. If she'd known about all of it and enjoyed it, she would have reacted like he wanted her to when she found the box, with flattery and excitement.
Does she suck? Absolutely. Is she a murderer like Joe? Nope. Joe is truly despicable. Beck is just pathetic.

So, Ive read the series. Great books, not hate- except for the fact that hes cumming into some random women's clothing article every other page-
So, I think Beck wanted the attentions, overall. Like Amanda said, she was an attention seeker and even admitted to knowing that Joe was stalking her.
I think she was just tearing herself down, trying to be the main character with a terrible backstory that every man will fall for. She tried to play that character, but we see how that ended.
I don't think Beck knew that she would die, or get locked in a cage. But I think she had an idea of what she was getting into, just not past the blinds. She's not as bad as Joe, not even half as bad. She isn't a good person. And this book does a great job at representing the type of people in society.

*SPOILER*
I read this somewhere and it made me think a little differently about Beck, but I am still not a huge fan of hers.
But they put it in the perspective of, if the book was written in Beck's perspective, then it would be a coming of age story. Say it was written in her point of view, and she didn't die. It probably would have ended in Beck recognizing her actions as wrong, and then changing her ways like any coming of age story. Beck is so young, and I know from personal experience, dating around is normal. I didn't go to the extent of sleeping with a ton of guys, lying, or cheating, but Beck was just troubled, and as Joe said, has/had daddy issues. If she had lived, she probably would've grown away from that life style. Especially if she ended up finding "the one" who treated her nicely, and she ended up having real feelings for.
