Kris Minne | 6 comments Hi,
I could not find answer to this question...
How do we deal with different spelling of author's name in different languages?
Example:
Саша Филипенко (Russian)
Sasha Filipenko (English, German)
Sacha Filipenko (French)
Sasja Filipenko (Dutch)
I was able to combine the Dutch translation of Бывший сын only after changing the Dutch spelled name (Sasja) into English (Sasha). However the book is no longer visible now (it seems) if you search using the "Sasja Filipenko" (which is on the Dutch book cover).
Afterwards I found that his books are also translated in French and these are stored under his "French" name. So it's difficult to combine those. Are there any rules for this?
Regards, Kris.

Please see: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/... (See: Authors published in multiple languages)
Authors with books published in multiple languages should have their names dealt with similarly to those with pen names. All editions should have the primary author name as the standard or most common Roman (that is, English-language) version of the author's name. Editions published under another spelling of the name or the name in another language should have that name listed as the secondary author. Different editions of a book not having the same primary author can cause quite a few distinct problems. Please keep the primary author for all editions of a work the same.

Arenda | 26447 comments I've done some clean up for this author: adding Sasha as primary author on all editions, and the name as written on the cover (with a workaround) as secondary author. Also added a link to Sasha on each different spelled author profile, and Librarian Notes.
