SOLVED. YA Fantasy - Kids get whisked away to a witch kingdom and are forced to cook the witches their potato dishes. [s]

I've been compiling the books I loved as a kid and this one has me stumped- I read this when I was a young teen I believe so around early 2010s, got it from my local library, American publishing I think.

The book was fiction and fantasy, not specifically horror but I remember it being unnerving at times. I remember the cover looking hand drawn with white and possibly green drawings on a black background?

The story went something along the lines of a couple of kids getting snatched away to a witches kingdom- in this universe the witches were evil and ugly I think, and they loved to eat potatoes, so the kids were forced to cook them fries and stuff like that. I have a memory of reading about them being told to take out the eyes of the potato only to find they were real blinking eyes- and underneath the witch kingdom was a potato people kingdom which was messed up because some of the potatoes could think and walk around maybe?

I shall update if I think of any more details. Apologies if I've done anything incorrectly, I'm new here! Thanks ^-^
