As someone who loves Korean culture and K-pop, I had to read this book. I was always curious as to what the author had to say since being overweight let alone bisexual in the K-pop industry is unheard of but Skye is such a badass! She doesn’t take anybody's criticism, especially her mom's and continues to follow her dream to be a K-pop star. When Skye said “I’m fat. People think it means I should hate myself”, it unfortunately made sense. People do tend to feel uncomfortable when someone loves themselves and I’m not sure why. Besides the whole K-pop competition in the book, I appreciate the author being real and open about her experiences as a Korean woman in LA. I also appreciate that this book is actually written by a Korean woman and not a white woman trying to write about experiences Koreans have. Two things I wasn’t very interested in was her relationship with H. It wasn’t exciting, it felt a bit fake. I found myself skimming through those parts. Also ,the dialog just wasn’t it for me. It was too plain but that could be because I listened to the audiobook but after reading a couple reviews, I wasn’t the only one who felt that way.
