Savanes | 2107 comments The Vampire Lestat is the 2nd book in the Vampire chronicles series.

The group is reading the series in preparation for reading the Horror Category Winner Prince Lestat later in the year.

Book Summary:
Once an aristocrat in the heady days of pre-revolutionary France, now Lestat is a rockstar in the demonic, shimmering 1980s. He rushes through the centuries in search of others like him, seeking answers to the mystery of his terrifying exsitence. His story, the second volume in Anne Rice's best-selling Vampire Chronicles, is mesmerizing, passionate, and thrilling.

We will start reading as group on February 15.

Please use spoiler tags whenever appropriate. We wouldn't want to spoil the book for the others!!

Savanes | 2107 comments - What do you think of Lestat? Did you like him in the opus? Did you want to know more about him and his story?
- Do you perceive him as a anti hero?
- What about the other characters? Did you find any of them intriguing?
Any other comment...? and most of all did you like this book and will you keep reading with us book #3?

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 7 comments I always liked Lestat. Louis got on my nerves. His mother - I had mixed feelings about her - never really decided.

Helen Callaghan This was one of my favourite books as a teenager and I do still love its vivid, lush and indulgent style, even though it frequently goes off into lengthy tangents. Lestat is just so much more fun than Louis and I adore the whole omnisexual 18th century melodramatic shambles of it all. It's such a guilty pleasure and it always makes me smile.

Michon Ball (shawnieb1967) | 19 comments This book is giving me a different perception of both Lestat and Louis. I'm finding it very absorbing so far. I'm enjoying learning the history of Lestat so he's becoming my favorite character.

Janina (sylarana) | 692 comments these books remind me of Army of Lovers ... a little too opulent for my liking. And, again, the plot is harmed by too many passages of idk .. random or insignificant ramblings?
I don't hate the story. I don't love it either. It was nice to get the whole thing from Lestat's POV. A bit too focused on gods and good vs evil ... not to mention the complete insanity of the story.
Overall, an ok read which I wouldn't continue if not for this group ..

Gina (gmjackson) I thought Lestat was a jerk in Interview with the Vampire so it's interesting to see things from his point of view. I like him a lot better now. I really enjoy the action parts of the story; I have to force myself through the philisophical discussions.
