Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19219 comments Can I just say that these are all brilliant ideas. I'd do all of these.

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 2297 comments i can't wait but hard? i thought this year was hard with the interactive bit. interested to see how the group works will we form our own groups or be one big group?

Kristie | 19230 comments Shannon wrote: "R = Route?"

R = reserved. She reserved the thread.

I think you're referring to her hint that it's something that is more fun to do together. I don't think the yearly challenge will be in groups. Just the activity/event it is based on can be done alone or with a group.

Margo | 11663 comments Janice wrote: "Last year, the addition of an interactive element was a game changer for all of us and caused a bit of confusion. But now that you're all used to it, I'm sure you will be eager to pop off the bus."

So the bus part is the interactive challenge hmm?

I'm very excited too. Janice gives us all the bestest xmas pressie every year 🎁🤶🎄

message 57: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments No, it won't be a group effort. I can't envision a year long challenge that would be a team effort. The theme is based on something that could be done as a group... or not. I've done it on my own.

I wonder if this is a hint...

No. it's just a continuation of our discussion in another thread about how we're all adorable, optimistic, and humble.

Everything you say will now be a hint until the new challenge is posted. lol

message 61: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments Okay, so if we change the name of the group from YLTO to AOH, next year's challenge will be RT.

message 62: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11470 comments "Abroad Or Home" will read for "Round Trip".

message 63: by Shannon SA (new)

Shannon SA (shannonsa) | 5 comments Ancient Order of Hibernians?

Real Talk?

But then I had the R as Route (because of the bus), not R for Reserved as Kristie explained.

Okay, leaving now.

message 64: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5199 comments Margo wrote: "So the bus part is the interactive challenge hmm?."

I hope so! I had so much fun wasting time creating them. I did about 2/day as a reward after work.

message 65: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11291 comments I remember the discussion, but as Kristie said, everything is a hint now!

I'm still thinking more in a train than a bus. Not sure why.

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 2297 comments Janice wrote: "Okay, so if we change the name of the group from YLTO to AOH, next year's challenge will be RT."

or road trip maybe we have to move by road predominantly so might there be a specific order to move in?
this is my 3rd go at the annual challenge every year i think this will be too hard - i nearly did not do this year at all but in the end i loved it and although i read some rubbish i also read some great books. Whatever you throw at us Janice I will give it a go

message 67: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 593 comments I feel like this may be the only way I get to "travel" this year, whether it's a round the world trip, geocashing, scavenger hunt. I'm excited to see what Janice has come up with!!

message 68: by Janice, Moderator (last edited Nov 07, 2021 05:44PM) (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments It's really tantalizing, ridiculously taunting, and really titillating. (Not a clue, just observation.)

Me, too!

message 70: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11291 comments Lol, you will have to clarify every time, Janice.

RT, RT, RT ......... and that's not a clue eh? I think there's a bit of a devil in you Janice 😂🤣😂

Or Arrived on something...

message 73: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments RT = really tough?

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments Gunit Kaur wrote: "AOH-> Arrived on Hills??

AOH is not part of the hint. Just the RH.

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments Peggy wrote: "RT = really tough?"

Yes.

message 76: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Lol, lucky us, can't wait!

Beth (eparks4232) | 2562 comments Jenn wrote: "I’m thinking it sounds like a tour bus, not sure how it would fit, but it is more fun to do with a group, but can totally be done solo . . . just have to wait and see, I guess lol"

This is what I was thinking too, so maybe sites and activities and meals, and if we get off at the wrong stop, something like this year's interactive will be fun.

message 78: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 2562 comments I have only 7 books left for this year, so I am definitely excited to start plotting for next year. So many books on my TBR that I didn't get in this year!! And I have to get really serious about the 7 I have left!!!

message 79: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I feel like a new Excel spreadsheet might be needed for next year. Scrolling up and down in my old word doc format is getting old. I’m not a super Excel user but I need to figure out a better way to track my yearly challenge.

It looks like Janice is making her way along with the R numbers. (Only being able to creat 3 entries a day must be getting old but watching the numbers going up is exciting.) We had 40 museum sites this year. Will there be more than 40 “R’s”? 🙃

You can post 3 threads and then you're blocked for a few hours. I'm not sure if there is a ceiling per day. I've been posting about 6 threads a day, each time I log on.

message 82: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Also, R14 was skipped but then added later. Mistake or hint? ;-)

message 83: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments LOL! Yes, it was a mistake. I have a private group where I organize all of these challenges, and I was linking to the equivalent help thread when I discovered I didn't have an R14.

message 84: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments You should have told us it was a hint Janice. It would have been fun seeing everyone come up with a reason for that, lol!

message 85: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments I'm just surprised that anyone noticed. You've a keen eye Peggy. Maybe you can see into the darkness of R14.... (view spoiler)

message 86: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11291 comments 14 books for the first badge. :)

message 87: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments 14 badges to earn? ;-)

Soooooo Janice... any suggestions on which weekend I should block for gophering?

Probably end of November, beginning of December. I've been dragging my heels lately. I kind of got sidetracked by thoughts of what my avatar will be. It could be something weird.

Jenn | 3029 comments Janice wrote: "Probably end of November, beginning of December. I've been dragging my heels..."

Oh good, I've got 11 left for my 2021 challenge, and 2 of them have to fit the annual challenge just right to get a badge before the big reveal when I start second guessing everything that I read "because maybe I should save this for the 2022 challenge . . . "

message 90: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Haha, I can imagine chosing the right avatar is a challenge in itself!

message 91: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19219 comments I always await the avatar change. It's the ultimate indicator.

message 92: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 593 comments Travel? Treasure Hunt? Maybe something like the Amazing Race??

message 93: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4547 comments Ah... Amazing Race. I didn't think of that, but it would fit in with the "R"s if R stood for Route. Multiple routes with tasks along the way. That would take us all over the world and need a passport. Maybe with a bit of scavenging along the way. Amazing Race with a puzzle thrown in for good measure.

Christina ❤️M❤️ (christir1159) | 1 comments Amazing Race... What a cool idea :)

message 96: by Shirley (new)

Shirley | 1509 comments Thinking the R is Rule. If so, Janice, 40 rules?

message 97: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments Sorry. R is for Reserved.

message 98: by Vicki (new)

Vicki | 1538 comments Janice wrote: "Sorry. R is for Reserved."

Hmm, so we are going to need a reservation.. Hotels maybe?
😄

message 99: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments LOL! You're all so eager for hints. I reserved all those threads and titled them R1, R2, etc. because why type Reserved 1, Reserved 2, when you have 40 to do.

But you have given me ideas for future challenges, like Amazing Race, Hotels... maybe famous buildings like the Dakota.
