Does anyone know if Enduring Freedom by Trent Reedy is clean? I stumbled upon this book recently and it sounds really good but don't want to run into anything that would be really inappropriate. Thx for the feedback!
Is divine rivals clean? How about a good girl's guide to murder(yk besides the murder, anything else?)
Divine rivals has a brief sex scene, but it’s not graphic at all and only like half a page long or something like that. I haven’t read a Good Girls Guide to Murder though.
agggtm is fine. there no explicit scenes but there is a mention of a bad demonic bored game (i won’t even speak the name here) but other than that…..i don’t really remember

Hi all! I was wondering what you guys thought about the ACOTAR series. There are some very explicit sexual scenes in there, and I’m pretty bummed because I really love the series and storyline, but I feel SO gross reading those chapters. do you feel like it’s okay to skip them and continue reading the story? I’m so torn about this.
Same. I had my friends who had read them and had the same standards tell me what pages to skip, so doing that might help.

Yeah, I read the first book, and the sexual scenes are very, very skippable. Tbh, though, I felt gross reading the violence as well.
Just everything, everything is super explicit, and even though I feel like the sexual scenes are easier to skip, it's harder to skip the violence (e.g. climax of the first book) just because they often occur with important plot points. :(

looks like it's...objectively clean? I mean there's no strong language but there is quite a bit of making out apparently. they end up in the same bed at one point but doesn't show anything beyond just super touchy. it is VERY enemies to lovers. like he has done....some not great stuff. but I guess it just depends what you're comfortable with!I personally haven't read this but I read one of my friend's review and she makes sure to do a really good content review
@brithebusybee Divine Rivals also has a lesbian side character, so if you're not comfortable/okay with LGTBQ+ content, skip the book altogether
Also an open door scene. For the lesbian couple we see a lot less of them (as in like 3 short scenes) in Ruthless Vows)
Thank u all for the divine rivals comments, unfortunately, ive already read it now. I thought it was mediocre. Yeah, I won't not read a book if there's lgbtq+ but I do kinda mentally roll my eyes if it's a character's entire personality. The smut scene was probably my least favorite part, but I also didn't find the whole book engaging.
Hey everyone, sorry if this one has been brought up already, but has anyone read Name of the Wind? I've heard raves but am wondering about content.
i have! I can't really remember a whole lot about the content though....I'm pretty strict about what I read though and I had no problems with Name of the Wind. that's probably not very helpful though haha
the one thing I would say about that book, not related to content....but he never wrote a third book. wrote the first two and abandoned ship. so just be aware that it's clearly unfinished and probably will never be finished
I haven’t read it, but someone I know (👀) said it gave her “the ick.” And another friend really doesn’t recommend it. I know that’s all second hand and non-specific, but hopefully it will be helpful if no one else with more info responds.🤷♀️
I've only read the first book so far, so idk for sure if there's anything more in the other two. And as for the first one, I'm trying to remember...I did feel like the MMC was too pushy, that annoyed me. Maybe that's what gave your friend the ick?
I can't remember for sure what all happened. There was no spice, but, like, I think it happens between side characters, just not on page? (I don't remember very well, so I'm prob not the most helpful on this)
There was a point where they had only one bed, and basically the MMC did not react the way he should have. But I don't think they ended up even sharing it... well, there was a scene where, well spoilers there, so idk how to explain it...
Heads-up warning about a popular and bestselling fantasy: Fourth Wing (The Empyrean Book 1) , sort of a Hunger Games meets the Dragonriders of Pern. I was looking forward to it, but within the first few chapters the aggressive female protagonist is dropping f-bombs. Soon thereafter she makes an explicit, lurid suggestion to an attractive young man she hardly knows. Her behavior would be off-putting to my spirit coming from a man, let alone a young woman. reply | edit | delete | flag
Clare wrote: "Hey guys, how old should I be to read caraval cause I've heard it's good."It's fairly clean, no spice and very little language. LGBTQ in the background but the character is VERY minor, it does get kinda dark though. Though based on your GR, I would wait a little. If you wanted to get into more popular fantasy, I would rec the Lunar Chronicles and Keeper of the Lost Cities
