30.4 - Katrisa's Task: Winter in Ms. Kat’s Kindergarten

I am a kindergarten teacher and winter is full of crazy fun! Choose 2 different tasks. REQUIRED: state the options you used.
NOTE - you may chose any 2 options - they are simply divided this way because 2 are inspired by activities from each month.

December -
1.a. in December my class performs an adorable Christmas program and one of the perennial favorites is Milton the Dancing Christmas Mouse. Read a book with a word of at least four letters in the TITLE that can be made from the letters in MILTON THE DANCING CHRISTMAS MOUSE

1.b. For the month of December we read and compare many versions of Gingerbread stories and cap it all off with a gingerbread party. Read a book where all the author’s initials can be found in GINGERBREAD.

January -“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” This month in kindergarten we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy of standing up for justice.
2.a. Read a book with Race or Social Justice on Main Page genres - may be embedded

2.b. Read a book from one of these lists: (must meet SRC requirements):
Essential Reading for a King
The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Fiction and Nonfiction
REQUIRED: State in your post the list used .

February - February is the month where we celebrate our 100th day of school.
3.a. Read a book that is at least 100 years old (published in 1922 (inclusive) or before)

3.b. Read a book with a TITLE or SUBTITLE that contains the number (not word) 100. The 100 can have a symbol with it ($100 or 100%)

Kim | 764 comments For December 1a, Is there any limit to the number of words in the title? I have a book with a one-word title that fits.

Dominion

Thank you.

message 6: by Bea (new)

Bea So, if I am understanding this correctly, I can choose 1B and 3A for the two options. I am not restricted to choosing both A and B of any of the three sections.

There is no limit to number of words. You may use a one word title.

In honor of kindergarten I specifically didn't disallow children's :) so as long as it fits the rest of the SRC rules you're good! And I am assuming Eragon meets the AR requirements

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3706 comments It does. Thank you.

Mind you, book 2 is going to be Les Miserables (for 3a) - I'm in another annual challenge which wanted the longest book on my TBR for one prompt, and I've been failing to get it read all year - so I've got a lot of pages ahead for this one!

message 16: by Katrisa (new)

Katrisa | 1437 comments I was supposed to read the longest book on my TBR for a challenge too, but I didn't do it. Good on ya!

It's probably the Popsugar 2021 challenge. I'm not going to get that prompt done. :)

KSMary is right - It's Popsugar 2021. I just wasn't feeling Ducks, Newburyport this year

Does the 100 have to be a separate part of the title for option 3b? I am planning to read The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared which has it in a hyphenated phrase.

message 21: by Katrisa (last edited Dec 05, 2021 01:38PM) (new)

Katrisa | 1437 comments KmarieD you can use the book. As long as it has the number 100 you're good!

Megs (medicasali) | 60 comments Hi Katrisa! Just to clarify-you state that we should pick two tasks but don't specify that it's a two-book task. Can we read one book that meets the requirements for two tasks to complete or did you mean for it to be one book per task, two tasks, two books? Thank you!

25 and 30 point tasks are always 2 book tasks, unless the task explicitly allows a one book option. See Default Rules and FAQs

Yep, that's the one! I've moved Les Mis to a different task now, but I'm still working my way through it! I started trying to read it in about February, when I thought I had plenty of time...

message 29: by Simone (new)

Simone (simonec75) There is no page minimum, right? So, I can use a book with 192 pages for book 1 and 208 pages for book 2?

message 30: by Katrisa (new)

Katrisa | 1437 comments There is no page minimum apart from the regular SRC rules
