Richard Osman's mystery, The Thursday Murder Club, has broken jomidi's streak of not great books. "The plot moves quickly from there and like a good cozy most people have a secret past that comes into play."

Raven Black (blackraven6913) | 198 comments Nightmare Brigade #1 helped me get into a book and forgive the flaws after reading a book that had issues but could be a bit controversial if you didn't "Love it" as a female reader due to the subject mater. And I found a "fun" horror with Swashbucklers. (For some reason gore isn't too bad if you're worried if you'll make it back in time to take the babysitter home...)
