⭒List 10!⭒

xD Sorry.

The entire City Between series is fun and fantastic and original and it's my new favorite series! :) But Book 3 is one of my favorites from this... currently on Book 9 and I'm speechless... <3 <3 <3

Ooh, the third book is your favorite?

The entire series builds up in a wonderful way (I mean, you can read them as standalone, but it's a series for a reason due to some Big Picture questions) and I'm IN AWE of Gingell.
<3 I've never invested 9 books in a series before... so yeah. Happy that I found this (rec'ed my Lemon Duck to me)!

I'm 3"
xD I probably stole No. 2. by about 2 minutes, it looks like ;)
BTW! That book sounds very intriguing and I've been meaning to read it! What's your favorite about it? (Other than Oscar Wilde's signature humor, of course.)

Formal definition is... "A trope in literary terms is a plot device or character attribute that is used so commonly in the genre that it's seen as commonplace or conventional. For example, a trope in superhero stories is a villain who wants to take over the world."

This discussion is reminding me of a recent comment I made on one of my friend's reviews - concerning my favorite tropes!, GR forbids me to link it so I've copied the part I'm thinking about here, for those who are interested! <3
(BELOW IS REBECCA’S MOST EXCELLENT LIST FROM her review of Clockwork Magician by Gingell. I’m quoting here to check it off with regards to the immaculate City Between books by W. R. Gingell...)
Y-anything with self-sacrifice
Y-random honest citizen stumbles into an evil government conspiracy, is in way over his/her head but has to set things right
Y-super talkative person forces super laconic person to be best friends
Y-enemies who respect each other
Y-enemies to friends
-found family father-son relationships: (Yes, if I edit to found family member-to-member because anything else would be Spoilers)
Y-best friends who would literally die for each other
-people raising kids nobody else wanted (kind of Yes, with a bit of tweaking, def. related concept is present repeatedly though!!)
-bitter characters who find out that not everyone is terrible: Y (if not in City Between, then 1000% in Gingell’s latest Gothel and the Maiden Prince, a very nice flipped retelling of Rapunzel, with the witch as one of the MCs xD)
Y-unconditional loyalty
Y-characters who WILL NOT break promises or are otherwise supremely concerned with
honor
-characters who can’t say “I love you” but really, really do: ABSOLUTELY YES.

@Lily: Do you have any examples in mind (you'd recommend)? ^_^
I was thinking of The Cruel Prince and the entire series, called The Folk of the Air, by Holly Black. And recently, ACOTAR, because of all the hype (but I don't fully recommend ACOTAR due to all the content issues... and they are many.)
However, my current read, The Moonfire Bride
features a great depiction of this trope! <3 It's super fun and sweet.

City Between! <3 The entire series is perfect. And Zero is the laconic one ;) (You have the read the entire series to see how this builds and resolves... but it's a wonderful ride... I'm on book 9 right now! <3)
Between Jobs

Would you please also include some titles you associate with your fav. trope? :) That way I can get some book recs at the same time <3 Thank you!!
9. The really stupid person, who keeps everything funny and is never serious in serious moments
Warriors (Erin Hunter)
Warriors (Erin Hunter)

Warriors (Erin Hunter)"
haha, i like that one
