Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Ok so let’s start tomorrow? Or today? (Nov 1)!!!?

message 6: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Sounds good to me :-) Begin the month with a book

message 7: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Finished the first 5 chapters...I'm enjoying the writing and the relationship between the sisters. What are your first impressions?

message 8: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments yess the writing feels very mystical and mysterious! it's slow enough where you get a lot of detail and can form a nice picture in your mind but not too slow to make it boring

message 9: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments it reminds me a bit of House of Hollow! have any of you read it before?

message 10: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa Menezes (vanessa_menezes) | 441 comments Oh I am just going to start it tonight!!

message 11: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Haven't read House of Hollow, thought it would be a bit too scary haha and I don't really read horror
I agree with you on the writing, Bella.

message 12: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Hey!!! I’m starting it today!!!!!!!! I’ve read a few pages so far and I can tell I’m gonna enjoy this one! Haven’t been big on scary stuff in the past but as I get older I can tell the things I like changes! I actually wanted to try some Stephen king because all my friends who read love him but horrors just never been my thing…. Suspense is as far as it goes lol

message 13: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments That's great, Courtney! I'm the same, like I've never read much fantasy, but I'm really get into that now, same with horror. I've read Grady Hendrix' vampire book, Dracula and Misery by Stephen King but those are not that scary in my mind. Even though this one has witches, it's classed more like historical fantasy I believe.

message 14: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Right, I’m with you. I’ll have to check out the books u just mentioned another time. I really enjoy reading with
You guys and getting to know all of you!

Corina | 2768 comments Yay, I'm really enjoying it as well, I'm intrigues to uncover the past and how they ended up where they are. Will read a bit more tonight :-)

message 18: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Yesss my two favorite genres fiction and history together plus a little fantasy (just a little) I also checked out her other book Ten Thousand Doors of January :)

message 19: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments I love those genres too. I know of it, but haven't read it yet, though I am thinking of picking up her other books. She also has A Spindle Splintered which is like a reimagining of Sleeping Beauty.

message 20: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments I’m enjoying this book so much… I want to read all of her books ASAP and I’m def going to try and get A Spindle Splintered. Would u guys be interested in any more of her books after we read A fire-keeper’s Daughter?

message 21: by Vanessa (new)

message 22: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments That's great, Courtney! I'm enjoying it as well...to be honest I don't know where it's going but I'm curious to find out. I'm not at page 70 I think. I have Ten Thousand Doors on my Kindle and was looking at ordering A Spindle Splintered, so would be keen.
All good, Vanessa, not that far into it yet.

message 45: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments yeah i get you! they don't reveal much, they give you little bits! I love the way the author ties into real history and relates it to the story!
