Abigail - I know but it’s fascinating! Btw - I meant say that I don’t think Darcy would’ve handed over a lump sum of £10k. He’d have no control over him if he did that. What often happened was it would be broken up into an annual income - guaranteed for life or as long as Lydia lived. So more like £500 pa perhaps.
