Got a late start, but should catch up today. This is my first Victoria Schwab book. Have you read any of her other books? If so would you say this is similar? The premise is so interesting. I don’t read a lot of fantasy so it’s taken me just a beat to relax into the genre.
I haven't read a Victoria Schwab book before. So far, this book is really good!
started the book already and not gonna lie, so far it’s really boring… maybe it’s just me. I mean, I liked pt 1 chapter 1 but then it just was eh- gonna keep reading to see if I’ll get into it

I loved listening to this book 😄 the writing was just *chef's kiss* for me. I've read some of her other books and, if I recall good. this book doesn't have the same vibe. (Either way, if you like Addie or not, you guys should check some of her other books)
I got really behind. Life. But I’m about 20% through. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish up in the next few days, but I’ve got family coming for the weekend, so who knows? At this point I feel like I’m just finally understanding the main premise of the book.
So--- I did not post any updates, but I finished the book today.*All spoilers if you are not done with the book yet.
I really love Henry so so so much. His struggles are very relatable and I wish, oh I WISH there was more about him. Henry was the sole reason I kept reading, because to me Addie was so bleh.
The enemies to lovers with Luke was weird and not needed. Really. I love me a great enemies to lovers, but this one was SO BAD. It is not even a good toxic relationship- Hell, the whole concept doesn't even work. It was a weird choice to make and a weird thing to reveal it at the end instead of being a 'centuries in the making' thing.
The book is FAR longer than it needed to be. Literally cut around 100 pages and I would have been good. (or use these 100 pages to better establish Luke and Addie's relationship OR Henry bc he is my babe)
I’m still working on this. It just slowed me to a stop. Sometimes when that happens if I read something else, I can get back going again. Don’t give up. My plan is still to finish. But I’m restricting my access to this thread so I don’t spoil anything.
Okay. I just got this back from the library. For whatever reason, I got really bogged down before. I'm back and hoping to finish this up in the next day or two. I'm just at the point that Henry remembers her -- so at least the central conflict finally feels revealed. I'm really sorry that I lost the pace we had scheduled Mina. But I'm back at it. Fantasy is not really my favorite genre, but I've just seen this book so highly rated all over my Goodreads feed for the last year, I couldn't help myself -- I had to try it.
Okay. All finished. I just don't love this genre. I struggled and finished just out of sheer force of will. I kept trying to figure out the why, and for all the effort it took for me to force my way thought -- they just came up short.
