My fault.
Justin wrote: "Awesome. Glad to see both of you joining this. Afterwords we should do Stickmen"If this goes well, I'm down for stickmen.
Paul wrote: "I'm new and in, what's the crack, do we read over a couple of weeks?"I can't give you the rules. I tend to break them and then lie, cheat, and steal to cover it up.
Just kidding! That was just me trying to keep up with Eleven's lying and cheating. I haven't started yet.
We only really have rules for how much to read on group reads, buddy reads are all different depending on who is participating. Since this is a novella, if we where going to set a spot to discuss at I would suggest 50%. Most buddy reads just use spoiler tags and do whatever, same as any other group. I'm down for whatever.
You guys are too fast. I mean here I am just barely done purchasing the book. I need to join a paced reading group... Oh wait, I'm already here aren't I?....j/k seriously though:)
Maxine, I read a book (YA) proposing exactly that: aliens who appear to humans as "Bigfoot". I'll cudgel up the title and post it. I did, after all, review it.:)
Bought it yesterday, started last night, WANTED TO READ IT ALL!! Read about 79 pages till my eyelids folded closed..[sigh] totally love it!!
I am loving this one as well, I was going to stop at 30 % and couldn't, I got to about 50% at work tonight. Addy, about your 30% spoiler, I'm still wondering if that is by choice or not though. (view spoiler)
This is gonna kill my reputation for dishonesty but I'm only at 5%. I will prioritize this today so I can read your spoilers. If the aliens turn out to actually be meth-smoking Bigoots (Bigfeet?) then I will be very pleased.
I don't know how much of the technical military and flight specifics are accurate but Lee sounds like he knows what he's talking about, very convincingly, and that's good enough for me. Such an underrated writer.
This will be my first ever Ed Lee read and I'm on my way to the sofa to start now. Yey.What if the meth is the alien?

What if Bigfoot created the aliens? Huh? Think about it.
Maybe the aliens will sell operator b some kind of super outerspace meth and he will pick up a hitchhiking Bigfoot and go on an intergalactic joyride.

I have read and rated 28 of his books on goodreads after this I plan on reading stickmen and then Grimoire Diabolique. My first novel of his was bullet through your face which I rated oct 14 2011. In a little over two years time he is my most read author second only to Stephen king and Dean koontz (by about ten books or so each), who I have been reading since elementary school. Long before I learned that there are many other horror authors out there to discover.

finished last night, her is a cut and paste of my final review.
An awesome book, the only reason it didn't get five stars is I was a bit disappointed in the ending. Not that the ending was bad, I just expected more. (view spoiler) it had great characters though with well written emotions and all the flight talk shows that Edward Lee either did his homework or is very good at faking it. I don't think the oev (I think that's what they called it) could be any more badass than it was and even though I'm not an adrenalin junkie flyboy I could definitely feel his excitment at the opportunity presented to him to fly it.

I went with five stars. I thought it was among his most creative stories I've read so far. When do we read stickmen? Maybe more of a 4.5 considering the absence of a meth addicted Bigfoot.
I finished last night, not reviewed yet. Totally pleased with it! Went directly to Off Season so I can catch up with the Offspring Buddy Read.I think This is maybe the third of Edward Lee's I'vevread; hope to buy more in March.
I debated between 4 and five, I'm more likely to round down on a 4.5 though just because five stars is a perfect rating and all. I may go change it though because I'm already thinking it deserved more. I'm getting back to offspring also and then back to the group read tomorrow, I will be ready for stickmen on Monday or Tuesday night if everyone else is ready.
Next week works for me. I still have to find a Prime book to borrow yet this month. I should do that today.
11, do you still get one book per month as a Prime? I used to. But since I subscribed to Kindle Unlimited I haven't seen that option.
Mallory Heart wrote: "11, do you still get one book per month as a Prime? I used to. But since I subscribed to Kindle Unlimited I haven't seen that option."Yeah, still 1 per month to borrow. My Kindle is so overloaded though I sometimes almost forget to take advantage of that benefit. A lot of what's available on Prime I've already downloaded in the past either for a free promotion or 99 cent sale. I have too many books.
...and the Prime book doesn't come with an audio option. I think many KU books do. That's a nice bonus.
