The plot | a group of 4 astronauts, 2 woman, one black female astronaut, one white russian female astronaut described as a larger size woman, and two men astronauts. the main character, the voice of the book, is one of the men. I think, maybe american. they land in a planet. they land in paradise. they encounter naked humans, that don't speak the a language the astronauts can understand. the protagonist, gets killed by a tiger. he wakes up in what is the first ring of hell (much like the painting based on dante's inferno poems). he is trapped in a cycle in a bar, where he keeps getting killed and waking back up in the bar? he eventually figures out the that its about him and his guilt. he uses psychology to get out of the cycle. he describes the world he wanders, very surrealist, he encounters the black female astronaut, who is now spotted in black and white. she is running naked with a pitch fork, attacking anyone she sees, because she believes they stole her identity, her blackness by making her spotted. she particularly attacks the white russian astronauts "dream", that is sprouting from her head as she lays naked on the ground, "creating something beautiful", and from her head an albano calf sprouts, boneless and flaccid, and everytime its almost formed, the black astronaut pops it with her pitch fork, causing distress to the russian. the protagonist moves on and then comes across a devil, eating people, he has some exchanges (cant remember) but he gets eaten by the devil and wakes up in another place, where he meets a god, he soon realizes not the christian god, but a entity who created this world. can't remember much more. he eventually ends up back in paradise where he started. |
