Laura | 4 comments just finished the Lobotomist's Wife by Samantha Woodruff. Amazon freebie. I'm on pregnancy bedrest, and it kept me entertained for 2 days. nothing spectacular but definitely thought provoking.

Ron | 2708 comments So many books to look forward to that are being published this year.

I have a list of 8 that have not been released yet that I'm anxious to get to.

Ron | 2708 comments Okay so first book I got that has been published and on my list this year is The Nineties .

I was born in '88 so this looks like an interesting read that I'm sure will be filled with a lot of nostalgia.

*****

I'm normally not the type that reads the introductions, I prefer to dive right in, however I think with this one I just might read it. I'm curious to see where it goes and I want to savor it.

Kelly (sunny_reader_girl) I'm going to read Olga Dies Dreaming for this category.

Dea (maidmirawyn) | 202 comments Not gonna lie…every year my default for this prompt is to read whatever book Brandon Sanderson is releasing. So this year it will be The Lost Metal, which is excellent because I'm a hardcore Mistborn fangirl. (The only time it isn't is when the BS book fits another prompt.)

The Lost Metal (Mistborn, #7) by Brandon Sanderson

Ron | 2708 comments So many great books coming out this year.

Even though I've already done this topic, I am certainly going to read more.

One in particular caught my eye since I've read this author/researcher before.

The Alpha Female Wolf: The Fierce Legacy of Yellowstone's 06

LeahS | 491 comments Read Dance Move, a collection of short stories by Wendy Erskine. Picked quickly from the library, because I needed something published this year for the ATY February Readathon. All are set in Northern Island. Some very good stories, and a few I didn't get a feel for, but I liked her style.

Heather L (wordtrix) | 780 comments I’m reading The Betrayal of Anne Frank: A Cold Case Investigation by Rosemary Sullivan, which was published in January. I’m a third of the way through it and it has been interesting so far. It’s well-organized, and the chapters are short and very readable. I don’t read much nonfiction, but am glad 60 Minutes brought this one to my attention. They did a segment earlier this year related to the book and cold case investigation. It piqued my curiosity, so when I saw the book on sale earlier this month I used a gift card to snag it.

Hands Like Secrets

message 69: by Kaia (new)

Kaia | 235 comments I read The Boy from Boomerang Crescent, a memoir from Indigenous Australian Rules football player Eddie Betts. Because he played in the local team for many years, I thought I wouldn't get my hands on this until next year because everyone would have it on hold at the library. Instead, it was sitting there when I went to return books yesterday.

I read it in one about 6 hours, only taking a break to feed me and the dog. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it this much. A fascinating look at racism in Australia, told through the lens of sport.

message 72: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahbastien1) | 113 comments Maggie Stiefvater is finishing up her Dreamer Trilogy (the follow-up series to The Raven Cycle) with Greywaren, which releases on Tuesday! (Although I might get my copy before then- apparently my order is shipping today and it's only coming from an hour away...) I haven't loved this series as much as TRC, but I read the first book last year for the prompt "a book about art/artists" and I'm currently reading the second for "a book by an author you read last year."

message 73: by Vaish (new)

Vaish B (vaishubieber) | 100 comments Sweet Love and Country Roads is Camilla Isley’s latest book in the First Comes Love series. It is the seventh book in this series, but can easily read as a standalone.

The novelty of these stories has gone away, or the writing has gone downhill. Whatever the case may be this book did not hold my attention.

3/5
