      I don't really, sorry. I just remember being really creeped out that someone could be made to eat a bird. The description shows her with blood and feathers around her mouth.
    
      What do you mean it was "Published with 'Turn of the Shrew?" Was this a book with several stories in them?Time period/location story takes place?

Did you read it in the 70s or much later?
      This book?The Phantom Fisherboy Tales od Mystery and Magic by Ruth Ainsworth? It looks like it was first published in 1974.
