message 1: by Winter, Group Reads (new) - rated it 4 stars

Winter (winter9) | 5003 comments This is where we will discuss the book after we start reading it in November.

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments I've started this a tad early. But I'll probably still be late to finish as I anticipate having to stop at some point due to another reading commitment! So getting a head start now.

Jill Durocher | 7 comments I have been working through this one for a LONG time and am looking forward to finally finishing it. About halfway through now. Enjoy it when I am reading it, it is just not a book I reach for. Sometimes Theo’s life requires me to take a “mental health” break.

SarahKat | 6294 comments I'm halfway through on audio and taking a break to listen to some of my other committed November books. It's not my favorite. Very easy to take a break from as there's not really any book-long building drama.

I keep looking at how many hours I have left in the book and thinking... Okay, I like this book but I don't like it enough to be excited for 20 more hours of it.

Lorraine | 2399 comments I’m also halfway through the book. I enjoy it but like Jill, it is not a book I reach for. I am told the second half is better. I hope so.

Sarah Long | 40 comments This particular book has come up from recently from a friend but I personally would never have reached for it. Its a long one but I’ve started. I’m not far enough to see where it’s going but I’m curious enough to keep reading. I like trying books I wouldn’t have picked up otherwise. I’m usually pleasantly surprised. Happy Reading Y’all!

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments I have put this aside due to other, more pressing committments. I got about 2 hours into the 32 hours, so I'll have a long slog the latter half of the month!

I enoyed what I had read so far, but it's very slow paced which I'm usually okay with.

message 8: by Miriam (new)

Miriam I've not yet start reading it, so I hope to make it for the discussion.

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments I've picked this up again after finishing my other committment and whilst slow, I'm actually enjoying it a lot!

Sarah Long | 40 comments This is dragging on and the timeline jumps are startling lol. But even though it’s long and slow…and occasionally I find myself thinking about what dinner will be etc. it’s not a terrible read. I don’t want to add spoilers but I hope everyone is getting on well enough

Heather Dufield | 94 comments I agree this book has a very slow pace.

Sarah Long | 40 comments I’m almost done. This one almost took me the whole month it feels like. I will say, it’s very poetic and at this point in the book some things have been said that had ME reflecting.

message 13: by SarahKat, Buddy Reads (new) - rated it 2 stars

SarahKat | 6294 comments With 1 hour left in the audio book, Theo says "It's a long story but I'll make it as short as possible." The author does not follow this same idea...

Sarah Long | 40 comments Hahahaha good point Sarah.

I’ve finished the book. It was ok to me. Certainly didn’t seem like it needed to be as long as it was. Like I said it was very poetic. Am I the only reader who sometimes misses the characters after reading a book? I enjoyed Hoby and Borris.

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments I'm 8 hours into the audio, so about a quarter of the way through. It is slow, but I'm actually really enjoying its slowness. I don't mind slow books so it's not a bother to me. Im enjoying all the detail.
