I read this a while ago, and I want to say it was about a redhead princess who runs away to save her kingdom. I know she's joined eventually by a young warlock who she ends up marrying at the end of the book (series?). I'm pretty sure there are polar bears or some type of war bear they negotiate with. I also want to say she slays a dragon by using some sort of special suit, but I could be mixing up books. (I read a lot of fantasy during these years).
