Not my favorite, by any means. I think my problem, and it is really just my problem, is that I had just read another book where divorce played a major role.
This was a tough story and a cautionary tale. There were some relevant themes here presenting problems without clear cut solutions. I think Max was the loser in this story.
I agree that Max was the loser in the story. I enjoyed it because I was so angry with all of the characters (except Max) in this story. I like when an author can keep me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. I am sad that the two support characters that I like so much, David and Nick, seem to let Max down. I'm anxious to see what is going to happen next.
Max unearthed the killer, helped save Austin and Bella’s life and exposed an unscrupulous reporter. And, she cleared Tommy’s name and reunited him with his baby sister.
No one thanked her except Detective Martin.
No one thanked her except Detective Martin.
Yes, I did become more sympathetic to Max in this story. She has been prickly, not without reason. I hope our favorite characters find some healing and relationship growing skills.
Jonetta,Great catch. I totally missed that no one thanked Max except Det. Martin. I was busy yelling at David and Nick I guess.
Sharon, after I summarized this, I had a better understanding of why you are so angry with David and Nick.
Max finally finds two people she trusts and cares deeply for in David and Nick and they both tell her to butt out of their lives. Yeah, Max is definitely the loser in this story. How sad that she has no one who cares deeply for her the way she does them.
I liked the story even though there were several people that made my blood pressure go up. Along with Ivy's manipulations, I couldn't stand either Paula or Bill. Then Lorenzo was stirring things up with his awful reporting. And, I was disappointed in David and Nick not wanting to hear what Max has to say. My favorite characters were Tommy and Austin. I hope they can stay close in the future.
