Ivy ruined quite a few lives, actually being held responsible for Heather Brock’s suicide. In every instance, her mother was approached about her behavior but didn’t really do anything to modify her future activities. Was Ivy a reflection of Paula or was there something else driving her to be so mean?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments The bad apple sure didn't fall from that rotten tree. But, I do think there was more to Ivy's vindictive nasty.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments Paula added to Ivy's bad behavior. I do think that she began by acting out because so much changed in her life when her parents divorced and Bill was brought into the house. However, I believe she grew to like the havoc and heartache she caused, which made her worse.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I agree, Ivy liked the turmoil she created with each post. It gave her the attention she craved

So many parents’ first response is to defend their child when they receive complaints but what Paula had to have heard should have scared her to death about Ivy. She just didn’t care enough about Ivy or she would have taken drastic measures. And, Paula was a narcissist training her child to be just like her.

I agree complete.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments Ivy seems to have become addicted to whatever kind of attention she could garner, but, further, she became addicted to the evil things she was doing to try to destroy others [imho].

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments I think you're right Charlene. Ivy's evil deeds are a kind of addiction.

Bailey mentioned something about her equating the likes on her posts to meaning those same people liking her.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments If there is any explanation for Ivy's behavior, we need to remember that she was abandoned by her real father and Bill took no interest in her. Her mother never bothered to correct her bad behavior.
Austin, her brother, basically hated her and Travis, her boyfriend was sacred of her.

I remember this in the story. Ivy wanted attention, whether it was positive or negative attention, she thrived on it. Paula did nothing to stop it, even when several parents pointed it out. I really feel bad for Austin growing up in this family.

I keep forgetting that Austin was a victim, too.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments Me too Jonetta. He is a good brother even though his parents and step parent are awful.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments I agree. Ivy probably started when her parents divorced, but her mom's nonchalant attitude made her feel like she was in the clear and not doing anything wrong.
