any help would be appreciated! i read this book maybe three to four years ago, i think it was YA fiction or some sort of mystery/suspense/psychological genre. the plot roughly involved a man who was initially a failing magician who was very poor. he then moved house to a shared flat with some others and they shared with him a secret that they had a mysterious substance in their bath that when touched would allow them to experience their idea of ‘heaven’ (i believe this may have been an extended metaphor for drug use but i can’t remember exactly). i think it was set in central europe area, and i vaguely remember there being some sort of political backdrop as well. i also vaguely remember something about a tunnel being a key feature, and the main character killing someone towards the end.
