Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments I know, I know, it's a book for kids. But since I have one, I'm trying to keep abreast of the latest trends in kids' books so that I have a better idea of what to steer her towards when she's a little older. :)

Silvia Turcios | 304 comments I love them! They are really funny and I am planning to read the last one published Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul for this section of the challenge :)

Megan I'm going to read this book as well!

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments Well I just finished it. Easy to read, funny in parts but I wasn't a huge fan. And I don't think I'll be rushing to recommend it to my daughter when she's older.

Berit | 138 comments Whoops! My youngest son ever read. I look at it this way he was rating, it didn't really matter to me how good it was. As long as he liked it. If anyone knows of a series geared towards 12-year-old boys let me know :-)

Both my boys loved this series. My 12 year old is really hard to find books for. He did read Amulet, Vol. 1: The Stonekeeper (most of the series) and enjoyed it. He is one that will read the first book in a series, enjoy it, but not want to read any more of them.

Oh, Bone was another one they really liked.

Percy Jackson, he got through 2 books I think.
If he likes SciFi, Fablehaven looks to be a good series.

Like you, it wasn't one I would have recommended, but the kids love it and it got my son reading. They also have very similar ones for girls. The Dork Diaries Collection.

My daughter (now 14) loved the Dear Dumb Diary Box Set #1-4 books and read them all multiple times between ages 10-12.

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments I think anything that gets reluctant readers reading us a good thing! But I just found him to be a total, erm, a-hole. I read a review that describes him as a sociopath, and I can see why! I'd be interested to know if he becomes nicer in the rest of the series.

Berit | 138 comments I only saw the movies, and I thought he was a bit goofy and a little Termaine. So, maybe he comes across badly in the first book. I just think all in all they're better then Captain Capt. underpants books ;-)

Ali This was the first book series my son really got into without a lot of nagging encouragement from me, so it has a special place in my heart for that reason.

Greg is a little t*rd, though.

Silvia Turcios | 304 comments I finished with Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul, It was funny, but not so much, I enjoyed it anyway, basically it's about a nightmare road trip :D
