I tested the new Beta version of Goodreads. Visually, I don't find it either better or worse. However, I can't for the life of me find how to use it to add an edition of a book. Is there one? For the time being, I've gone back to the regular view.

Go to a book page and change to beta mode. Click your profile picture and click edit mode. Then click the three dots next to "edit book details" under the star ratings of the book.
