I'm not at this point yet but for those who are, feel free to post away. I'll be with you soon. :-)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I started chapter 9. It will be interesting to meet Suzette's cousin. I wonder if her mom will show up and cause trouble.
Do either Bram or Nick stand out as shady characters? Or am I just too suspicious of everyone?

message 3: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments I'm on chapter 9, too. I'm interested in the fact that Val had the photo of Suzette and her cousin tweaked to show age progression - could she be in Bayport already?

Yes, they both seem a bit suspicious. I'm not sure which one I like more as possible perp.

Hmm? Yes, she could be lurking about checking out the terrain as it were.

At this point, do you PI's feel it is someone in Suzette's writing group? Do think something will be revealed in her writing chapters?

Mmm? Interesting how Suzette's fictional maid, object of a certain son's desire, somewhat mirrors someone in her real life. Could a momma not want her son to hook up with her or is this a depiction of another one of Suzette's literary characters modeled after someone in her life?

message 7: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Either someone in the writing group or someone she has disgruntled in her past (or at work since the maid told Val to to stop asking questions about Suzette). It seems like Suzette liked to stir the pot.

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments I don't know if either Bram or Nick is likeable IMO. But maybe that'll change!

Both Bram and Nick are suspicious to me. Nick seems to be a problem, certainly and likely to be the culprit, but we find this out early enough on to make me think Bram is the problem and not so much Nick.

She did like to stir the pot, PugMom, which creates many possible foes for her.

And somewhere around chapter 11, there's a point made about the caped characters at the bookstore Halloween party. Seems that's pointing to one of the Draculas.

Q -- At this point, who do you like for our hit and run perp? Why?

I'll treat as spoiler and drop down several lines with choice and thoughts. Thanks!

I've changed opine at different points in story but something stuck this time so I'm leaning towards Morgan. She seems to be taking Suzette's passing hard for a writing group buddy, like that of a closer friend. Sure she can be more sensitive than most but is it really guilty sorrow? Something about her being a research hound and then Suzette took to mirroring Morgan's behavior in her sleuthing out and researching facts. Dunno, something just struck a chord as they say. Well, that is at this point. Who knows in another page or so? LOL

Maya Corrigan | 5 comments Hi, All. Tina invited me to pop in here as you read Crypt Suzette, my 6th Five-Ingredient Mystery. I've enjoyed reading the comments. It's hard for writers to get feedback, so I welcome anything you say. I wanted to answer one question that came up--about the young woman found dead in Granddad's backyard. That happened in the 3rd book, Final Fondue. I'm packing now to travel tomorrow, but I'll pop in again after I get settled at my destination and have some time with kids and grandkids. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. ~Maya Corrigan

Thanks, Maya! I did read that one but I must have forgotten. I love this series!

Hi Maya! And thanks for taking time from your travel prep to pop in at The Parlor and chat with the PI's. It's appreciated.

I did the writing group thing where we took the meetings to members' homes with the snacks and such so this book brought back some happy memories. And as fortunately, no one was killed, there were no accusations of murder. That's always helpful. LOL

Having said that, I remember plotting and keeping my characters straight so wow, what a task that was not getting facts from the Fictionistas' work crossed with those of your book. How the heck did you keep those separate, straight? That's some juggling you did there, Ms. Author. Kudos to you!

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments Just finished this section (I'm a little behind this month!), and still have NO IDEA who killed Suzette! Well done, Maya! :D

PI Nicole, this mystery is a challenge to the most astute of gumshoe armchair PI's. LOL

Ms. Maya does write a fine whodunit! I will be reading more of her works in the future.
