19 -- A Book That Has An Alternate Title
The author of George changed the title to Melissa's Story last year to no longer be deadnaming the main character.
How the Penguins Saved Veronica was a fun read and was originally published in the UK as Away with the Penguins.
I'm taking a different spin on this prompt:The Book of Two Ways, by Jodi Picoult....in the ancient Egyptian times, this book was referred to as "The Book of Going Forth by Day".
I just bought The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle in a UK bookstore, then came to Goodreads when I returned to the US, couldn't find it, and discovered it's The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle here. Not sure why the 1/2 change as I haven't started it yet, but it definitely fits :)

Nice one!! What a clever spin.
I started with this one and did The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester. It was originally published as Tiger! Tiger! great great Science Fiction classic.
Andrea wrote: "Driving over Lemons - An Optimist in Andalusia by Chris Stewart - does that count?"personally, I wouldn't count that. subtitles are usually an explanatory thing, unless it starts with "or," i.e. "Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus" or "Twelfth Night, or What You Will."
but as I said, that's how I'm taking it for my challenge. if you feel it works for your challenge, go for it!
A new book in the US is The Bright Side Running Club by Josie Lloyd. Apparently it was published in the UK as The Cancer Ladies' Running Club.
Chariots of the Gods by Erich von Däniken
The alternate title is specified in the book by the author. He wanted to call the book Memories of the Future but his publisher changed it.
Patricia Moyes, The Sunken Sailor (UK) / Down Among the Dead Men (US), 1961 -- a classic British mystery.
The House of Whispers by Laura Purcell. https://cdnbookworm.blogspot.com/2022...also published under the title Bone China
I want to read The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton as I just recently bought it.Other recommendations:
The Taking of Annie Thorne / The Hiding Place by C.J. Tudor
Lullaby / The Perfect Nanny by Leïla Slimani
Northern Lights / The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
Prompt #19 - A book that has an alternate titleI read My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman
I read The Mysterious Mr. Quin. Each short story begins with the original title and where it was originally published. This was the next book in The Agatha Mystery Challenge that I am reading in chronological order.
Alicia wrote: "I chose The People We Met on Vacation!"Same! I think it's call You and Me on Vacation in the UK or something like that!
I am reading A Man Called Ove by Fredrik BackmanAgain, this is a book that I have been meaning to read for years and am just getting around to reading it. It is worth the wait; I am loving it.
I read Jackie and Maria by Gill Paul titled THE SECOND MARRIAGE in the UK
Jackie and Maria: A Novel of Jackie Kennedy & Maria Callas by Gill Paul 5/7/22https://titlesurfingwithtraci.blogspo...

I read Call Us What We Carry by Amanda Gorman, 3 Stars. Goodreads says "Formerly titled The Hill We Climb and Other Poems" so it counts for me.
For this, I read "When Knighthood Was in Flower," or "The Love Story of Charles Brandon & Mary Tudor the King's Sister, & Happening in the Reign of His August Majesty King Henry the Eighth." I also claim brownie points, because the author, too, has an "alternate" title (Charles Major, but my copy is published under his pseudonym, Edwin Caskoden).

When books are published internationally, sometimes the title gets changed. The content within the book is usually the same, it’s just published under a different title.
For example depending on where you live, you might know the popular read Beartown by Fredrik Backman as The Scandal. Or Louise Penny’s book, The Murder Stone as A Rule Against Murder. And did you know the original title for Outlander in the UK was Cross Stitch?
Also, for those also participating in our Agatha Christie Mystery Challenge many of her books have been published under different titles. This is a great way to double up on your challenges!
