Hsimeonov | 1 comments I read this circa 2007-2010 in highschool so it's aimed at young adults/teens. It was about a female who is being interviewed by a panel over the course of the whole book to get a title or job. She has a trainer to prepare her for this, and she can hear his training in her mind in flash backs. It's a dystopian world, where if you have this something specific wrong with you (i think it may be feelings of dissent, or questioning the authority), you get assassinated.

Spoiler: At the end of the interview (end of book), she realises she has this flaw and accepts her fate, it is her trainer who kills her. It is also unclear throughout the book what species they are, although at the end of the book, it goes along the lines of 'she looks down at her furry stumpy body' which is a twist in perception.

Rainbowheart's suggestion of Genesis by Bernard Beckett sounds like your book.

https://books.google.com/books?id=sxt... There are different cover images.

Quotes from the book:
- Now she looked down at her hair body, its protruding stomach and short bowed legs, and for the first time felt uneasy, foreign.
- A bright red robe was draped about Art's stumpy body and reaches as far as the floor, sparing his companion the sight of his mechanical details.
- Anax [short for Anaximander] knew the interview was being recorded. examiner: Four hours have been allotted for your examination.
- They wanted her to say more, but Anax knew she had dodged a bullet and stood quietly before the panel, determined not to step back into its path.
