Riley E | 1 comments I have been trying to figure out the name of this book for a while now. But I have been able to find nothing. It is a book where the main character who has been growing up being watched has to choose their gender. And after getting on the plane/helicopter to go get it done it crashes into the ocean leaving her floating. Then when her wake up they are on a island where she is shortly found after that. Then after re awaking the MC finds out the MC actually comes from a place with different humans then the rest of the world. I don't really remember what happens while she on the island I know a love interest between the MC and a boy forms. Then near the end of the book the main character decides to go try and save her old friends. I know there is multiple books in the series but I just can't seem to remember the name of the series. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Daisy (daisyporter) | 1200 comments I don't think this is it, but your description reminds me a little of Gather the Daughters.

Rainbowheart | 28640 comments The MC ends up being female?

It's a little hard to tell from your description, but the people where she comes from have to choose their sex, like in a sci-fi sort of way? Are they sexless before that?

Might want to check the Best Gender-Bending Books list.

Judy | 50 comments You might be thinking of Commitment Hour, which is part of the League of Peoples series by James Alan Gardner where people have to choose their gender by age 21. I don't want to give too many spoilers here, but the village was essentially an old experiment that wasn't shut down and it took an outsider to show what was going on. Note: the League of Peoples series includes a wide variety of characters/settings that do not come together until much later.
